Liverpool moved a step closer to the Premer League title on Wednesday night.
The Reds defeated Newcastle 2-0 at Anfield and moved 13 points clear at the top of the table following Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool fans reacted to the Gunners’s result as it came through by breaking out in a chant as the Anfield faithful begin to believe that they have already done enough to win the title.
At the Etihad Stadium last Sunday, Liverpool fans sang ‘We’re going to win the league’ for the first time this season after beating Man City 2-0.
Despite this belief within the fanbase, Virgil van Dijk is not getting ahead of himself and will not celebarte until it is officially over.

Virgil van Dijk reveals Premier League title belief
With a contract expiring at Anfield this summer, Jamie Carragher believes Van Dijk needs to be at Liverpool next season as the Dutch star has been sensataional throughout the 2024/25 campaign.
The centre-backs performances deserve to see him lift the Premier League at the end of the season and the 33-year-old will be dreaming of it.
Despite that, Van Dijk is not getting ahead of himself as the Liverpool captain delivered a message to the fans after the Reds’ win over Newcastle. “Step by step,” the defender stated.
Despite Van Dijk’s contract situation at Liverpool going on in the background, it is clear that Merseyside club’s captian is fully locked in on bringing the Premier League title back to Anfield this season.
This is the attitude the Dutch star is portraying, although he doesn’t mind Liverpool fans thinking that the title race is already over.
What Virgil van Dijk said about Liverpool fans after Newcastle win
Following Liverpool’s win over Newcastle, Van Dijk was asked about the Anfield crowd singing “We’re Gonna Win The League.”
The Liverpool captain responded by stating that he is happy for the fans to sing whatever they want, however, the Reds dressing room does not share the same opinion.
“They can sing whatever they want,” the centre-back said via ESPN. “We have to deal with that. It was a good atmosphere today like always and we have to make sure that definitely the rest of the games here will be an amazing atmosphere and we have to keep going.
“We definitely enjoy the atmosphere. There is no ‘almost there.’ There are 10 more games to go for us and nothing is decided yet. Until it gets decided we don’t get carried away whatsoever.
“I’m going to be the boring guy in that sense because I’m going to say ‘Onto the next, keep calm'”
This is the right attitude for Arne Slot’s men to take until it is officially over, however, it would need to be a historic slip up for Liverpool to lose it from here.
