The future of Darwin Nunez at Liverpool is up in the air.

The Uruguayan striker has struggled under Arne Slot this season, evident on Sunday as Nunez was an unused substitute during Liverpool’s clash with Man City.

It has since been revealed that Slot was not happy with Nunez’s attitude in recent games against Wolves and Aston Villa, which indicates that the striker could be set to leave at the end of the season.

Saudi Arabia showed strong interest in Nunez during the January transfer window as Al-Nassr were willing to spend £62.5m on the 25-year-old.

If Liverpool could receive that this summer, it would be an amazing piece of business for the Reds, with Atletico Madrid reportedly placing the Uruguayan star on their transfer list.

Atletico Madrid interested in Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez

Atletico Madrid are blessed with one of the deepest squads in Europe but Diego Simeone could see stars such as Antoine Griezmann leave at the end of the season.

The La Liga club will have their eye on several attacking options just in case this happens and according to CaughtOffside, Liverpool’s Nunez is among them.

The Uruguayan star is believed to be greatly admired in Madrid and has all the physical attributes to be a success in a Simeone team.

Liverpool will be open to a straight deal but the Reds should consider using the 25-year-old to bring one of Atletico’s best talents to Anfield ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Samuel Lino would be an exciting replacement for Luis Diaz at Liverpool

The future of Luis Diaz is uncertain at Liverpool as the Colombian star is out of contract in 2027 and it is being suggested that the Reds may not offer the 28-year-old a new one.

Therefore, the Premier League leaders will need a replacement for the winger and having potentially scouted Samuel Lino while the Brazilian was in Portugal, the 25-year-old could be a solid option.

Lino ticks a lot of boxes for Liverpool as the Atletico star is young, he can play in multiple positions and there is plenty of room for the winger to develop under Slot.

The La Liga talent is similar to Diaz in many ways as he is quick, is a strong dribbler and is not afraid to have a shot on goal.

Atletico Madrid will not want to sell Lino this summer as the Brazilian is a key player for Simeone. However, Nunez could open the path for Liverpool and it is an option the Reds should explore.
