Liverpool have been on fire this season, with the magic of Mohamed Salah playing a huge part in their success.

Salah broke more Premier League records against Manchester City last weekend, with yet another goal and an assist.

Now sitting on a staggering 51 goal contributions across all competitions, the Egyptian is set for a record-breaking campaign at Anfield.

The 32-year-old’s red-hot form has unsurprisingly led to widespread praise, with Liverpool target Bryan Mbuemo labelling Salah as best in the world.

With Salah seen by many as the best in class, it begs the question as to whether he can go on to win the Ballon d’Or in 2025. Reds boss Arne Slot has since honed in on the debate.

Arne Slot comments on Mohamed Salah’s Ballon d’Or chances

Rio Ferdinand tipped Salah for the Ballon d’Or if Liverpool won the Premier League this season and it seems like Slot has echoed the former Man United man’s statement in his recent press conference.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the Newcastle game, the Liverpool boss was questioned on Salah’s Ballon d’Or chances:

“It’s mostly about attackers but the last winner was a midfielder. Good thing Mo is in discussion as that means he is doing well and that means we are doing well. In general, someone who wins the Ballon d’Or needs to win something as well.

“What I liked a lot is that he takes this challenge with a big goal and assist vs City but his defensive work-rate in the second half particularly was outstanding. If we as a team win something he has a far better chance to win the Ballon d’Or.

“It would make his chance only bigger (if we win the Champions League) but the last one who won it didn’t.

“It’s not just about the amount of prizes you win, but most of the ones who won the league or Champions League. But football is always like this – you need the team to win an individual prize. But Mo understands that.”

Stats suggest Salah is displaying Ballon d’Or form

The winner of last season’s Ballon d’Or Rodri, recently labelled Salah as his toughest opponent and the stats suggest the Egyptian may even go on to steal the City-star’s trophy in 2025.

With a current tally of 30 goals and 21 assists in 38 appearances, Salah is on track to replicate the form seen by recent Ballon d’Or winners like Karim Benzema and Lionel Messi.

As Slot previously mentioned stats aren’t the only thing that wins you the Ballon d’Or, a player’s team achievements also play a huge role – which was shown by Rodri’s triumph in 2024 after winning the Premier League and European Championship with Man City and Spain.

With that being said, if Salah can manage to drag Liverpool to both league and European success come the summer, he will for sure be the favourite to lift the famous golden ball in 2025.
