Darwin Nunez has been a big topic of discussion following Liverpool’s draw to Aston Villa.
The Reds drew 2-2 with Unai Emery’s team at Villa Park on Wednesday night but Arne Slot’s team could have come out of Birmingham with all three points had Nunez not missed a golden opportunity.
The Uruguayan striker missed an open goal in the second half of the contest, an action that left Liverpool coach Slot with his head in his hands.
Nunez walked to the Liverpool dressing room on his own after the full-time whistle, furious with the role he played in the draw.
It has been a tough season for the 25-year-old at Anfield and Gabriel Agbonlahor has now suggested that he knows what will happen to the striker following his Aston Villa miss.

Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool career is over
Since Nunez arrived at Liverpool from Benfica as part of a £85m deal during the summer of 2022, his time on Merseyside has been a series of ups and downs.
Slot has improved any players within the current Liverpool squad, however, Nunez has not been one of them.
As a result, Agbonlahor thinks Liverpool will part ways with the striker this summer, as the 25-year-old’s lack of composure in front of goal is a trait he can’t seem to shake off.
“Slot’s description of Nunez is that he works his socks off, he’s got speed and strength to get in behind,” Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT. “But for a Liverpool striker, he lacks the composure.
“Look at the strikers they’ve had. Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres. He doesn’t have that composure.”
The talkSPORT pundit continued by saying: “He’s the sort of striker when he goes through one-on-one you’ve got no confidence because he’ll be panicking. He’ll go around the keeper and end up missing or will hit the keeper or put it over. You can’t coach that. Sometimes players aren’t great finishers.
“Liverpool fans do love him but they’ll understand that a Saudi team put a big bid in in January that Liverpool rejected. But I’m sure in the summer he will leave. For sure.”
Al-Nassr submitted two bids for Nunez during the January transfer window with the final offer worth £62.5m.
If Liverpool could sell the striker for that money this summer, it would be an incredible piece of business as it doesn’t seem that the Uruguayan star will change anytime soon.
ESPN pundit agrees with Gabriel Agbonlahor’s Darwin Nunez opinion
ESPN FC pundit Alejandro Moreno shares similar thoughts to Agbonlahor regarding Nunez, which he expressed following Liverpool’s draw with Aston Villa.
“He is so odd,” Moreno said on ESPN FC. “It is hard to think of another striker at a high level who misses as many easy chances as he does.”
“Obviously, on the easy chances where he has time, where there is an open goal, there’s too much thinking going on in that head… that is where the problem lies with Darwin Nunez.”
Liverpool fans were not happy with Nunez following his Aston Villa display but deep down, Reds supporters love the Uruguayan star.
It is a shame that it has not worked out for the striker at Anfield, but it seems best for everyone that they part ways at the end of the season.
