Liverpool bounced into the Carabao Cup final after sticking four past a despondent Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
The Reds took a little while to get going after trailing from the first-leg, but soon hit their stride and simply didn’t look back.
Tottenham were well beaten in the end on a night where Liverpool could easily have scored even more.
Few had given Spurs a chance heading into the game, and with good reason.
Regardless of whatever form Ange Postecoglou’s team are in, Liverpool are simply unstoppable under Arne Slot at Anfield.
They knew they’d need at least two on the night to progress to the Carabao Cup final, but as illustrated by an amazing statistic that has emerged following the game, that was unlikely to ever be a problem.

Liverpool equal 131-year-old record
Liverpool have been imperious on home turf throughout the club’s history.
However, in the years since Jurgen Klopp – and then Slot – took over, Anfield has been the very definition of a fortress.
Klopp barely lost in front of fans during almost nine years at the club. The stadium would often be referenced as the team’s ‘superpower.’
But under Slot, things have arguably been even better. Yes, Liverpool lost at home against Nottingham Forest in September, but as per statistician Michael Reid, they have blown everyone away since.

“Since the defeat to Nottingham Forest, Liverpool have now scored 2+ goals in all 16 of their games at Anfield,” says Reid on X.
“It’s the club’s joint-longest ever run of scoring 2+ at home within a single season (also 16 in a row in 1893-94).”
Liverpool’s 16 game run
This is quite the statistic from Reid and goes to show what an history-making season Slot and his team are having.
That they have met luminaries such as Manchester City, Real Madrid and even Manchester United during that run, this is all the more impressive.
| Opponent | Result |
| Bournemouth | 3-0 |
| West Ham | 5-1 |
| Bologna | 2-0 |
| Chelsea | 2-1 |
| Brighton | 2-1 |
| Bayer Leverkusen | 4-0 |
| Aston Villa | 2-0 |
| Real Madrid | 2-0 |
| Man City | 2-0 |
| Fulham | 2-2 |
| Leicester | 3-1 |
| Man United | 2-2 |
| Accrington Stanley | 4-0 |
| Lille | 2-1 |
| Ipswich | 4-1 |
| Tottenham | 4-0 |
As the length of this record proves, this is not an easy feat to achieve and it will of course end at some stage.
But as their next home game comes against relegation threatened Wolves, Liverpool should have their eyes on smashing this most niche of old records.
Just when you think you’ve seen it all, Slot’s Liverpool go and find something else to break.
