The January transfer window has once again been a quiet one for Liverpool this year, with the Reds likely to end the winter market without any new signings.
Few Premier League teams have opened up their wallets this month with Liverpool seemingly putting preparations into place to go big in the summer, especially if Arne Slot can lead the Anfield side to Premier League and UEFA Champions League glory.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 1 | 22 | 16 | 5 | 1 | 54 | 21 | 33 | 53 | |
| 2 | 23 | 13 | 8 | 2 | 44 | 21 | 23 | 47 | |

| 4 | 23 | 12 | 5 | 6 | 47 | 30 | 17 | 41 |
With Liverpool interested in making four signings in 2025, the summer is shaping up to be an exciting one for the Merseyside giants, with the Reds keen on Milos Kerkez after a breakout year at AFC Bournemouth with Sheffield United’s Ryan One also on the Reds’ radar.
Indeed, Liverpool will see some big-name players in the summer with Real Madrid eyeing Trent Alexander-Arnold and FC Barcelona keeping tabs on Luis Diaz, and the Reds have now made their move for one top player.

Liverpool make approach for Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich
According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool have made their move to sign Joshua Kimmich, with the Bayern Munich superstar set to become a free-agent at the end of this season with the midfielder’s contract due to expire.
The Germany international has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield this January with Kimmich believed to be more interested in joining Liverpool than Manchester City this year, with Pep Guardiola’s side also keeping tabs on the Bayern maestro.
With Kimmich’s representatives already making an approach to Liverpool over a potential deal this summer, the Reds launching their own move for the former RB Leipzig star could be the clearest indicator yet that Slot wants to bring the versatile midfielder to Anfield.
And given what Liverpool are looking for in their 2025 shopping list, Kimmich could solve two major problems for the Reds with the German midfielder at the peak of his powers and coming off a hugely successful career with Bayern.
What problems could Joshua Kimmich solve for Liverpool?
Kimmich has been one of the best players in world football for some time, with the 29-year-old leading Bayern to eight Bundesliga titles, 3 DFB Pokals and one UEFA Champions League trophy, with the midfielder also making close to 100 international appearances with Germany.
| Joshua Kimmich’s career stats | Games played | Goals | Assists |
| Defensive Midfield | 266 | 27 | 64 |
| Right-Back | 128 | 11 | 45 |
| Central Midfield | 62 | 7 | 8 |
Yet as per Kimmich’s career stats, the Bayern star’s brilliance comes from his ability to operate in both midfield and at right-back at the highest level, two positions Liverpool will need to strengthen in during the summer transfer window.
Julian Nagelsmann himself Kimmich as a ‘world-class’ player, and for Liverpool, the Germany superstar can establish himself as both the dream successor to Alexander-Arnold at right-back as well as an exceptional option in midfield if needed for Slot.
