The January transfer window is fast approaching, and for the first time in some years, Liverpool could be active in the winter market.
A lack of signings in the summer coupled with a Premier League title charge could inspire Arne Slot and Richard Hughes to make some deals in January, with Liverpool already linked with the likes of Alphonso Davies heading into 2025.
With a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold also needed with the defender likely to join Real Madrid, some key positions will need filling in next year that could be tackled in the January market, with squad depth also key for the Reds.
And Liverpool have four positions in mind for what they can do in January.

Liverpool to consider defensive, midfield and attacking options
According to GiveMeSport, Liverpool are considering moves to help at left-back, centre-back, central midfield and the attack, with the Reds in a position where they might need to invest if they’re to maintain their current form.
With Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov keen to join Liverpool, there’s a real chance that the Merseyside giants could make a splash in January, especially with Slot on course to win the Premier League and potentially UEFA Champions League based on form this season.
Indeed, signings could help Liverpool from favourites to out-right winners in the league and in Europe, with quality depth needed across the board if the Reds are to enjoy one of their best seasons in recent memory in Slot’s first year in charge.
And with Liverpool now having a rough idea on what they want for next year, there’s a reason for supporters to be excited going into January, where one or two signings could be made to help improve the squad.

Defensive signings have to be a priority for Liverpool
With Conor Bradley out until 2025 and Alexander-Arnold leaving in the summer, defence is clearly the priority area of the pitch for Liverpool, with Andy Robertson’s long-term future seemingly coming into question with a left-back also on the agenda.
With three first-team centre-back options, as well, Liverpool should be making defensive signings their top priority in the January market, with Ibrahima Konate’s fitness something the Reds can’t rely on for the remainder of the season.
Although midfield depth could be useful, options at the back are needed if Liverpool are to go all the way in the Premier League and Champions League, with fullbacks and centre-backs exactly what the Reds need.
