Ipswich Town is the next hurdle Liverpool have to overcome as the Reds continue their quest for the Premier League title.

Arne Slot’s men were victorious in their last two matches with Darwin Nunez netting a late brace last weekend against Brentford before Harvey Elliott starred in Liverpool’s win against Lille midweek.

Liverpool currently find themselves top of the Premier League ahead of second-placed Arsenal with the Reds boasting a six-point lead over Mikel Arteta’s men with a game in hand.

The Merseyside club will be confident in overcoming Ipswich following their 2-0 win at Portman Road during the first weekend of the season, while the opposite can be said about the Tractor Boys.

Ipswich were hammered 6-0 by Man City last Sunday and their manager Kieran McKenna sounded worried ahead of a trip to Anfield as he couldn’t find many flaws as he praised Slot’s team.

Ipswich have struggled upon their return to the Premier League as the Tractor Boys currently find themselves 18th in the league standings.

This has not been a result of McKenna’s side playing bad football as they have some very good qualities about them, but simply a lack of high-quality stars.

A trip to Anfield would have been the last thing the Ipswich boss would have wanted after their Man City defeat and speaking to the press about Liverpool, the 38-year-old was full of praise for the Reds.

“They have been an enjoyable watch and they have carried that all the way through the season,” McKenna told the media via the BBC. “They are a complete team who defend well and press high.

“Their counter-press and counter-attacks are good. They can control the game and also change gears really quickly. They are well coached and have good principles in all phases.”

Thomas Frank spoke about Liverpool’s counter-attacks ahead of Brentford’s match with the Reds last weekend, which shows that it is a trait that worries opposition managers.

Slot’s team has a lot going for them heading into the Ipswich match, although the Dutch coach will be without some key men.

Speaking to the press on Friday, Slot confirmed that Liverpool will be without Curtis Jones for Saturday’s match after the midfielder left the Reds contest with Lille on Tuesday with an issue.

“It’s usually not a good sign if a player asks to come out during half-time and it wasn’t because he won’t be available for the game tomorrow,” said the Dutchman.

Jones joins Diogo Jota and Joe Gomez on Liverpool’s injury list but other than that, Slot has a full squad to pick from, with the only problem being who starts at Anfield.

Darwin Nunez could line up for Liverpool after his Brentford heroics and his display against Lille, which is the biggest decision Slot will have to make regarding his team for Ipswich.
