The contract situations of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have been huge talking points at Liverpool this season.

The trio’s current deals expire at the end of the 2024/25 campaign and given their importance to the Merseyside club, fans of the Reds have been worried about losing key stars.

Chatter around the future of Virgil van Dijk has been quiet, however, when it comes to the others, there seems to be a new update every week.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is being heavily pursued by Real Madrid with the La Liga champions hoping to acquire the right-back for free this summer. The Spanish giants even made an audacious move for the England star on New Year’s Eve, only for Liverpool to reject their advances.

As for Mohamed Salah, the winger has been the most focal of the trio through the media as it is clear the Egyptian superstar is keen to remain at Anfield.

The 32-year-old has admitted that on several occasions the club and his representatives are far from agreeing a new deal, which has fueled the links between Salah and Saudi Pro League clubs.

Having managed all three players for many years during his time at Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp has now chipped in on the situation.

Jurgen Klopp may text Liverpool to sign new contracts at Anfield

Since leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, Klopp has accepted the role as Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer, which officially began on 1 January.

On Tuesday, the legendary German coach took part in a press conference where he spoke about various topics, which included the futures of Alexander-Arnold, Salah and Van Dijk at Liverpool.

“I’m so happy they’re [Liverpool] doing well, I’m in contact with Arne and some players,” Klopp told the press.

“I watch as many games as I can and could, great football even if you don’t support them you should watch. Maybe the best balanced in the world right now. I’m really, really happy about that.

“I’m so happy I’m not in charge in that situation and have to answer these questions now. So good luck. My point of view? I’d love all three to extend. I don’t know, they didn’t tell me. I could text them.”

Would a text from Klopp be enough to persuade the trio? We’re not so sure. If they did leave – they’d be more than a huge miss.

How did Alexander-Arnold, Salah and Van Dijk perform under Jurgen Klopp?

Klopp had a major impact on the careers of Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold as the German coach elevated the trio to join the best players in the world in their positions.

Salah played under the German coach 349 times at Anfield, producing 211 goals and 88 assists, which fired the Reds to every trophy possible during the 57-year-old’s reign on Merseyside.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss handed Alexander-Arnold his debut at Liverpool before the full-back would go on to play under the German coach 310 times. Klopp always encouraged the defender to go forward and that resulted in the England star producing 19 goals and 80 assists.

As for Van Dijk, Klopp made the Dutch defender captain of the Reds last season following the departure of Jordan Henderson, with the centre-back playing 270 under the new Red Bull employee.

The German coach is no doubt very fond of the trio and fans will hope that their legendary former Liverpool boss can play a role in them staying at Anfield for a bit longer.
