Trent Alexander-Arnold’s name has dominated the headlines in recent weeks as his contract standoff with Liverpool continues.
With his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, there has been a lot of chatter on his future and it’s safe to say it took a toll on the 26-year-old, who wasn’t at his best in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United.
Real Madrid are interested in signing Alexander-Arnold and have already had a January bid turned down by Liverpool.
As the Reds vice-captain continues talks with his boyhood club over a new deal, reports suggest he has made a demand to the media.
Trent Alexander-Arnold makes Liverpool demand

Over the past few months, Alexander-Arnold has only once publicly spoken about his contract situation as he signaled his desire to remain at Liverpool at least until the end of the season.
“I want to be a Liverpool player this season (as a minimum) is what I will say,” said Alexander-Arnold to reporters after the 3-0 win against Bournemouth in September.
“Look, I have been at the club 20 years now, I have signed four or five contract extensions, none of those have been played out in public, and this one won’t be either.”
Since then, he has stuck to his word and refrained from talking about his contract situation as a sign of respect to his boyhood club.
The Athletic claim that Alexander-Arnold’s decision to do so has been a conscious one from his side, with the Liverpool vice-captain making it very clear to the media that talks about his future are ‘off limits’ as his standoff with the club continues.
He has been criticised his recent weeks for his performance – particularly against Manchester United – but he hasn’t responded to those claims to avoid fueling claims about his future.
What next for Alexander-Arnold?
Liverpool have offered Alexander-Arnold a new contract, but with Real Madrid desperate to secure his signature, it remains to be seen how the saga pans out.
The 26-year-old has conducted himself with utmost dignity and class over the past few months despite Real Madrid’s interest playing out publicly, which is something the Reds will be grateful for behind the scenes.
However, with time running out, Liverpool need to make Alexander-Arnold sign on the dotted line to avoid the saga from spilling into the business end of the campaign.
