The January transfer window is upon us, and for Liverpool, the Reds could be in the market for one of two signings.
Liverpool are believed to be interested in adding to four positions in 2025, with Arne Slot’s incredible start to life as manager at Anfield potentially opening the doors for the Merseyside giants to spend big this month on reinforcements.
With Jamie Carragher urging Liverpool to sign a new left-back after Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United, a defender would be what many fans expect the Reds to target in the window this month.
Yet Liverpool appear to be looking higher up the pitch and towards Nottingham Forest for a potential January signing.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool have joined the growing pack of Premier League clubs interested in signing Forest midfielder Gibbs-White, with the England international one of the key reasons behind the City Ground side’s incredible campaign in the top-flight.
Gibbs-White has won praise already from Carragher this season for his performances with Forest as per Nottingham Forest News, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side looking like a good bet to finish in a European spot in the Premier League after a fantastic first-half.
WIth three goals and three assists in all competitions and a first England call-up, it’s easy to see why the likes of Liverpool are now interested in signing Gibbs-White this January, with the 24-year-old’s contract with Forest due to expire in 2027.
Indeed central midfield is a position Liverpool need to add to in the January transfer window, and with the Reds now in the race for Gibbs-White, many supporters would be pleased to see an approach made for the England international in the coming weeks.
What other midfielders have Liverpool been linked with this January?
Central midfield and defence are the two positions Liverpool need to give extra attention to in this January window, with the Reds fully aware that quality depth is needed via the market if they’re to go all the way for the Premier League.
And the current rumour mill suggests that the Anfield side are targeting just that, with Liverpool believed to be scouting VfB Stuttgart star Enzo Millot with the Reds also linked with Torino star Samuele Ricci.
Indeed, Gibbs-White would be a fantastic addition to Liverpool’s squad this January, and if an agreement can reached with Forest, nothing should stop Slot and his transfer team from going all the way in their pursuit to sign the midfielder.
