Liverpool are set for a busy January transfer window, with Morten Frendrup a player who could be of interest for the Reds.

The Genoa midfielder and Danish international has been rumoured with a Premier League move for quite some time, with Frendrup linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer after a breakout season in Serie A having won promotion back to the Italian top-flight the campaign before.

With Genoa sat in midtable, Il Grifone will need to sell if they’re to bring in new players in January, a prospect that will alert Liverpool to Frendrup’s situation with the historic Italian side in the new year.

And Genoa’s new asking price for Frendrup could be of great interest to Liverpool in the January transfer window.

Genoa willing to sell Liverpool target Frendrup for £12m

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Genoa have lowered their demands for Frendrup to just €15m (£12m), with Liverpool one of a handful of teams interested in signing the 23-year-old, alongside AC Milan Brighton & Hove Albion and Napoli.

A defensive midfielder who can also play as a fullback, Frendrup ticks a lot of boxes for what Arne Slot’s side are looking for in a January signing, with Genoa’s new asking price for the Scandinavian talent something that will be well received at Anfield.

With Wataru Endo’s Liverpool future currently up in the air, Frendrup could be an ideal replacement for the Japanese international if the Anfield no. 3 was to leave Merseyside in the January transfer window.

And at just £12m, Liverpool will find it difficult to land a better bargain in the winter market than Frendrup, who himself could be keen on making the move to the Premier League leaders next month.

Liverpool would be crazy to pass up on Frendrup in January

Liverpool have been exceptional this season, yet one problem that’s become apparent throughout the first half of the campaign is how few quality options Slot has at his disposal beyond the strongest starting XI.

Which is why Frendrup would be such a smart signing for Liverpool, with the Danish international offering quality in two key positions for the Anfield side with room to grow into something more akin to what Slot wants given his age.

Indeed, at £12m, Liverpool would be crazy to pass up on a player like Frendrup in January, and the Reds should act fast if they’re to beat English and European rivals to the midfielder’s signature.
