10-man Liverpool struggled through a difficult game against Fulham at Anfield and will be grateful to have emerged with a point.
The Reds went down a goal and a man within 17 minutes, but fought back to earn a draw. Here’s how we rated the players on a breathless day in the Premier League.
Defence
Alisson Becker: 7 – Alisson was looking forward to this game but must have been wondering why with Liverpool a goal and a man down early on. Didn’t do much wrong but might have felt he could have done better with the first strike despite a deflection from Andy Robertson. Big save in injury time to stop Adama Traore.
Trent Alexander-Arnold: 2 – Robertson might have been sent off, but Alexander-Arnold was almost as bad on Saturday. Let Antonee Robinson go for both goals and his marking was miles off it all game long. Wasted two early corners and never got going on the ball. Alexis Mac Allister says Trent is ‘amazing.’ Not on this evidence.
Joe Gomez: 5 – Gomez was soon drafted to left-back and never looked fully comfortable from an attacking or defensive sense. Deflected the second goal in when he could have been closer to Rodrigo Muniz.

Virgil van Dijk: 5 – Pulled out of position early on by Harry Wilson and never fully got to grips with Raul Jimenez either. Coached Ryan Gravenberch through the game as expected, but looked uncharacteristically shaky.
Andy Robertson: 1 – A truly shocking display from Robertson, who was at fault for Pereira’s opening goal before an awful touch let in Wilson, who he subsequently brought down before being deservedly sent off. Cost Liverpool the game.
Midfield
Ryan Gravenberch: 9 – Gravenberch was the man Arne Slot chose to move back to central defence after Robertson’s red card and the £34m man was absolutely superb in the heart of the back four. Tough in the tackle and quality on the ball, this was arguably Gravenberch’s most impressive display of the season.
Curtis Jones: 4 – Not good enough again from Jones who allowed Liverpool to be cut through far too easily in the midfield. Took a booking and will now serve a suspension. On this showing, the Reds won’t miss him.
Dominik Szoboszlai: 7 – When down to 10 men Szoboszlai is exactly the kind of midfielder you want and the Hungarian never stopped running at Anfield. Showed quality on the ball at times, leading one good counterattack which Mohamed Salah should have done better with.
Attack
Mohamed Salah: 7 – Salah has previously been shackled by Robinson, but the Egyptian had the beating of him on Saturday. Set up the equaliser with a sumptuous cross for Cody Gakpo, although was a little wasteful with a couple of chances.

Luis Diaz: 5 – Worked hard Diaz in a central role, but never really threatened a makeshift Fulham back two. Moved to the left but never laid a glove on Fulham from there either.
Cody Gakpo: 5 – Got a lovely diving header to bring Liverpool level but was otherwise sloppy and wasteful on the ball.

Substitutes
Darwin Nunez: 6 – Came on and livened things up for Liverpool. Missed a good chance from a header but deserves credit for Diogo Jota through for the equaliser.
Jarell Quansah: 3 – Let Robinson outmuscle him for Fulham’s second and put Liverpool under pressure with a wayward back pass just after Jota’s goal. Looks shot of confidence.
Diogo Jota: 9 – How Liverpool have missed him. On the pitch for a matter of minutes when he showed exactly what the Reds have been missing while he’s been injured. Superb finish for 2-2.
Harvey Elliott: 8 – A superb cameo from Elliott who was giving Liverpool exactly the guile they’d been missing in the midfield. Almost scored against his old club with a beautifully curled effort which just went over.
