The January transfer window is shaping up to be a big one for Premier League clubs, with Liverpool likely to be a big player in the market.
Arne Slot’s side are reportedly looking at four positions to strengthen in heading into 2025, with Trent Alexander-Arnold still rumoured with a move to Real Madrid as Liverpool look ready to spend in the winter window.
With the Reds already linked with the likes of Kenan Yildiz, Liverpool could end up splashing the cash to help improve the squad and to push their Premier League title and UEFA Champions League dreams over the finish line.
And one rumoured Liverpool target is now set for a record-breaking move to the Premier League.

Liverpool target Julio Soler set for Premier League move for club-record fee
According to journalist Uriel Iugt, Lanus defender Julio Soler is set to move to the Premier League in January, with the Liverpool-linked fullback set to leave the Argentine side for a club-record fee.
Iugt wrote on Twitter: “Julio Soler will be playing his last match with Lanus today in La Fortaleza. His arrival to the Premier League is well advanced. It would be the biggest sale in the history for the Garnet.”
Soler was linked with Liverpool in the summer with the defender part of Javier Mascherano’s Argentina squad that travelled to France for the Olympics, with the £10m-rated fullback regarded as one of the most exciting talents in South America.
And with Soler closing in on a move to the Premier League for a club-record fee for Lanus, Liverpool might have secured a deal for the 19-year-old Paraguay-born talent, who could be the long-term replacement fro Andy Robertson.

Soler would be quite the signing for Liverpool in January
At 19-years-old, Soler has already had quite a career with Lanus, with the defender a staple for the Argentine side this season on their way to the Copa Sudamericana semi-finals.
| Julio Soler’s 2024 Lanus stats | Games played | Minutes played | Goals/Assists |
| Liga Profesional | 17 | 1,442 | 0 goals/0 assists |
| Copa Argentina | 1 | 45 | 0 goals/0 assists |
| Copa de la Liga | 12 | 981 | 0 goals/1 assist |
| Copa Sudamericana | 11 | 900 | 0 goals/1 assist |
| Total | 41 | 3,368 | 0 goals/2 assists |
And although Soler’s goal contributions aren’t the best in the world, the defender’s consistency at the back and ability to adapt could make the teenager an ideal signing for Liverpool in January under Slot.
Indeed, a new long-term left-back option is needed at Anfield, and Soler could be a dream signing for Liverpool in January if a deal has indeed been struck with Lanus for the defender.
