Liverpool came away with a draw against Newcastle United after one of the most entertaining games of the Premier League season.

An end-to-end game resulted in Fabian Schar scoring a late equaliser for the Toon with Liverpool 3-2 up heading into the final moments of the match thanks to a Mohamed Salah masterclass, with the winger assisting Curtis Jones and then scoring a brace.

With Jamie Carragher going crazy after Liverpool’s first goal against Newcastle, supporters were put through the motions having gone from losing to winning to ultimately drawing against a determined Magpies side.

And pundit Pat Nevin has lauded one Liverpool player after a ‘perfect’ moment against Newcastle.

Mohamed Salah lauded after ‘stunning’ assist for Liverpool

Speaking on BBC Sport’s coverage of the match, the former Everton striker was full of praise on Salah’s assist for Jones, with the Egyptian international again the star of the show for Liverpool and coming up clutch with two big goals for the visitors.

With Salah’s Liverpool future once again in the spotlight this week, the 32-year-old forward showed against Newcastle why he deserves a new contract at Anfield as well as a bumper pay increase, with the former AS Roma man arguably the best player in the world at the moment.

And for Nevin, Salah’s impact for Liverpool changed the game completely, with the attacker providing three huge moments against Newcastle that ended up securing a point for the Reds that could go a long way in the Premier League title race.

Nevin said: “That’s the effect Mohamed Salah can have and that effect is stunning. It’s a great finish from Curtis Jones, but that is a great ball from Salah. The pass was millimetre perfect into Jones’ run.”

FSG have no excuse to give Salah what he deserves

Salah’s form this season has been nothing short of otherworldly, with the Liverpool no. 11 hitting levels that few would have expected from the 32-year-old attacker heading into the new Premier League campaign.

And for Liverpool’s FSG owners, there is no excuse now that can explain why Salah has not been awarded a new contract, with the winger keen to stay and in the form of his life under Slot.

Indeed, Salah will help Liverpool to silverware this season and is showing no sign of slowing down at all, and FSG must admit defeat in their petty battle with the forward and tie him down to a new contract as soon as possible.
