Liverpool really are interested in ‘world-class’ player and could make him a tempting offer

With just over one month to go before the start of the January transfer window, Liverpool are starting to put their plans in place.

The Reds have so far managed brilliantly despite doing very little in the market during the first summer of Arne Slot’s reign.

But as another chance to add to the Liverpool squad gets set to roll around, fans will be hoping that the Reds are a little more busy.

For the most part, supporters would like to see Liverpool potentially target a new midfielder.

And with reports that Liverpool could come back in for Martin Zubiemendi yet to fully go away, there could be some hope of that happening.

Other areas of the pitch could do always do with strengthening besides, though, and the Reds are reportedly targeting another striker to help bolster their attack.

Liverpool interest in Marcus Thuram is confirmed

For the moment, Liverpool look like they probably have enough in attack. Even with Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota injured, Slot has managed with his other options.

Nevertheless, there have been suggestions that Liverpool could look to replace Darwin Nunez at the end of the season if the Uruguayan fails to catch light.

Omar Marmoush has been heavily linked as one potential option, but reports from Italy in recent days also claimed that Liverpool are interested in Marcus Thuram of Inter Milan.

And according to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Liverpool’s interest in Thuram has now been ‘confirmed.’

They claim that the Frenchman is a ‘real’ target for the Reds after becoming ‘one of the best strikers in Europe’ in his year-and-a-bit at Inter.

Furthermore, Liverpool could reportedly ‘tempt’ Thuram by offering him a salary much higher than his current six million Euros per year deal.

However, it’s claimed that the riches on offer at Anfield may not be enough to convince the 27-year-old, who is said to be ‘in love’ with Inter.

Liverpool do not need Marcus Thuram

Liverpool were reportedly looking at signing Thuram before he joined Inter in 2023.

Available on a free transfer after leaving Borussia Monchengladbach, a move for the France international would have made much more sense back then.

Now, Thuram is said to have an £71m release clause woven into his contract in Milan.

It’s arguable that Liverpool need a new forward in 2025 anyway, but for that kind of money, it’s incredibly hard to justify. Thuram was labelled ‘world-class‘ during his Gladbach days, but that is a debatable tag.

Instead, the Reds should steer well clear of this and let Thuram crack on with the Nerazzurri, whom with he is clearly having a blast.
