Liverpool could have a big summer on their hands next year as they look to consolidate the Arne Slot era.
Slot has started off brilliantly with the Reds, winning nine out of his first ten matches in charge.
However, having made only one new signing over the summer transfer window, the Dutchman is very much still working with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad.
There may well be massive changes afoot at the end of the campaign, with Klopp stalwarts Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah all potentially leaving.
While that key trio will need replacing in the transfer window, they may not be the only Liverpool players heading out of Anfield once the curtain comes down on 2024/25.
It has been a mixed start to life under Slot for Darwin Nunez. And according to journalist David Lynch, a decision on the Uruguayan’s future may not be far away at all.

Darwin Nunez entering ‘make or break’ territory
Nunez had been expected to be a big player for Slot at Liverpool. Upon first taking the job, Slot revealed that he’d spoken to Nunez to assure him that he was in his plans.
For one reason or another, though, that is yet to come to pass so far this season. Instead, Nunez has been reduced to a bit-part player, starting only once in the Premier League after seven games.
That one start did come with an accompanying goal, but Nunez was told that he looked ‘lost‘ after being put back in the line-up against Bologna in the Champions League.
As a result, theories have been put forward that Nunez could be sold to Atletico Madrid. And speaking to Anfield Agenda, Lynch says that unless something changes, the signs do point to a summer exit for the 25-year-old.

“I don’t think anyone within the club would be quite as cutting to call it a make-or-break season, but I think there’s a feeling that it kind of is that,” says the reporter.
“There are clubs that I’m sure would be interested in him of a certain level, absolutely, maybe clubs in Spain would have a look.
“I just think it kind of feels like we’ll get to the end of this season and if he hasn’t absolutely lit it up in the next eight months or so then Liverpool will feel that it’s probably time to move him on and that it’s just kind of not worked out.
“The signs point to the fact that at the moment it’s not looking likely that he’ll get to the end of the season [in the starting XI] and continue as a Liverpool player,” Lynch adds. “That’s my take on him.”
Liverpool already looking at Darwin Nunez replacement
This is probably about right on Nunez. At this point the Uruguay international simply does not feel like a good fit at Liverpool.
As Lynch points out, there probably are clubs that would take a chance on Nunez and it’s likely that the Reds could still get a decent fee back for him.
If that does happen, then it would feel pertinent for Liverpool to look for a starting centre-forward in the market.
And again speaking on Anfield Agenda, Lynch has already declared that Omar Marmoush could be the man to replace Nunez. The Egyptian is having an excellent start to the season at Eintracht Frankfurt and looks like he might be a more natural fit for Slot.
We won’t give up on Nunez just yet, though. There is still plenty of time left for the No.9 to make an impact. But it is starting to feel as though the writing could just about be on the wall.
