With another international break upon us, 17 Liverpool players are away with their respective countries.
The Reds’ good form across the Premier League and Champions League has meant many of their players being recognised at international level.
Of course, this is not a new experience for many of them. Liverpool have five permanent national team captains with the squad and plenty more important players besides.
One member of the Liverpool squad who is still yet to feature for his country, however, is Curtis Jones.
But Jones has been in terrific form for Liverpool and as a result has deservedly been called into the England team to face Greece and Ireland.
And as seen in some footage released by England from Tuesday’s training session, the Liverpool academy graduate is already showing what he can do.

Cutis Jones gets the better of Ashley Cole
This is not the first time Jones has been amongst the England squad. November’s call-up is his third for the senior team.
Having played a lot of football for the U21’s, the 23-year-old will also know many of his new teammates from playing with them at youth level.
Jones is good friends with Anthony Gordon, for example, and should not have trouble settling in.
And judging by a video posted by the official England account on X, Jones has been impressing during training.

The clip sees Liverpool’s No.17 showing excellent footwork to hammer in a hat-trick of goals.
Having held off Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa and fired into the corner, a voice which sounds a lot like Harry Kane’s can be heard saying ‘brilliant Curt, really good!”.
Jones then fires in a low shot to more shouts of ‘brilliant Curtis!” before he stands up and then beats retired Chelsea legend Ashley Cole with a fierce shot. Not many got past Cole like that in his playing days!
Curtis Jones set for England debut
It seems likely that having had to leave the October camp early for the birth of his first child, Jones will make his England debut this week.
That it is likely to come against one of his Liverpool teammates makes it all the more fitting.
Jones is set to come face to face with Kostas Tsimikas and then Caoimhin Kelleher on Thursday and Sunday respectively.
| Age Group | Caps | Goals |
| England U16’s | 6 | 1 |
| England U17’s | 3 | – |
| England U18’s | 10 | 1 |
| England U19’s | 4 | – |
| England U21’s | 20 | 5 |
Given that they played games in the Liverpool academy together, it would be a nice moment if Curtis made his bow against Caoimhin at the weekend.
He’ll have his eyes on Thursday, though, and getting the better of class clown Tsimikas.
From here, the task for Jones now is getting consistently into the Liverpool XI and making sure that this is not a flash in the pan.
