Liverpool were 4-0 victors against Bayer Leverkusen last night in what was one of Arne Slot’s best wins this season at Anfield.
A masterclass of a second-half saw the Reds score four goals without reply as Luis Diaz ran the show for Liverpool, with the Colombia winger scoring a hat-trick whilst playing as the no. 9 on the night for the Anfield side.
With Stephen Warnock blown away by Curtis Jones’ performance, it was a night to remember for the new Liverpool era under Slot, who has now won his first four UEFA Champions League games this season.
And former Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing was impressed with one player in particular against Leverkusen.

Speaking on LFC TV, the pundit lauded Jones after the Liverpool academy graduate’s impressive performance against Leverkusen, where the youngster pulled the strings from midfield for the Reds.
Jones pulled off a ‘brilliant’ assist for Diaz as the England youth international showed why he could become such a threat for Liverpool under Slot, and Spearing believes there is nothing stopping the 23-year-old from becoming a real star for the Anfield side.
Spearing said: “His all round play, he can play as a 10, he can see passes, he can finish, score goals, can play in a pair, as a defensive midfielder, he can break up play, get out of tight situations, his passing with both feet is out of this world.
“As long as he can bring consistency with it he’s going to cause the manager problems and he can go as high as he wants to go.”

Jones has really come into his own this season at Liverpool, with the midfielder showing he can play a variety of roles under Slot and excel in virtually every task given to him regardless of who he is playing alongside.

With an excellent assist for Diaz the cherry on top of the cake, Jones will be pleased with how he performed last night against Leverkusen, with Liverpool now top of the Champions League league phase.
