Mohamed Salah’s contract with Liverpool expires next summer, and FC Barcelona are lining up a move for the forward.
Barcelona have been linked with Salah in recent weeks with the Egyptian international set to become a free-agent at the end of this season, with the 32-year-old attacker likely to end his historic spell with the Reds in 2025.
With Saudi Arabian clubs also interested in signing Salah, each passing day pushes the Liverpool no. 11 closer to the exit door at Anfield, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk also set to leave for free next summer.
Yet Barcelona could have their own problems in trying to sign Salah at the end of this season.

Barcelona could struggle to match Salah’s wages
According to Sport, Barcelona could financially struggle to meet Salah’s wages if the winger was to leave Liverpool for free, with the La Liga leaders facing a similar problem with another attacking target in Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane.
As per the report, Barcelona’s financial problems could lead to Hansi Flick’s side struggling to sign a top forward next year, even though Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha have been exceptional this season.
With Liverpool interested in Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado, though, there could be some room in the market for the Reds to fund the Catalan side’s move for Salah if an agreement was to be reached for the Spanish youth international.
Indeed, the January and summer transfer windows of 2025 are going to be interesting for both Liverpool and Barcelona, and the prospect of the two clubs doing business is likely with the sides interested in players from either team.

Liverpool fans should be fuming if Salah joins Barcelona
Although Barcelona are one of the few clubs in world football who are bigger than Liverpool, the idea of Salah joining the La Liga giants would feel like a punch in the gut for Red supporters.
As we know, many fans have expected Salah to move to Saudi Arabia, with the winger seemingly keen on making the switch and becoming the new face of the Saudi Pro League as one of the best players in the world.
And joining Barcelona would feel like a disappointing move for Liverpool fans, with Salah potentially facing off against the Anfield side in Europe and maybe even giving the Merseyside giants some games to forget on the continent.
