A round-up of the latest Liverpool news as Arne Slot proves Jurgen Klopp ‘missed a trick’ and Anfield chiefs land an update over their interest in Aurelien Tchouameni.

Roy Keane thinks Ruben Amorim should echo Arne Slot’s Liverpool at Manchester United

Manchester United legend Roy Keane believes Arne Slot has laid out a blueprint at Liverpool that Ruben Amorim should aim to replicate when he arrives at Old Trafford. The 39-year-old has agreed to leave Sporting CP and replace Erik ten Hag at the Red Devils on November 11.

Amorim cost Manchester United £9m to sign through a release clause in the tactician’s deal with the Leoes. He leaves the Jose Alvalade Stadium as a two-time Liga Portugal winner and two-time Taca da Liga champion to try and turn Manchester United’s campaign on its head.

Old Trafford chiefs fired Ten Hag on October 28 with Manchester United 21st of the 36 sides in the Europa League and 14th in the Premier League table. So, Keane thinks Amorim should replicate the work-rate that Slot has built into Liverpool since taking them over this summer.

“Liverpool won [on Tuesday] and the manager said about work-rate and intensity. That is a good place to start from,” Keane said on The Overlap.

Jermaine Pennant thinks Jurgen Klopp ‘missed a trick’ with Ryan Gravenberch

Liverpool are seeing a vastly improved Ryan Gravenberch this season, and Jermaine Pennant thinks the Dutchman’s displays boil down to Arne Slot seeing the potential that Jurgen Klopp did not. The 22-year-old has shone as a deep-lying dynamo this term after a hard first year.

Klopp saw that Liverpool signed Gravenberch in a £34.5m transfer from Bayern Munich with a deadline day deal in September 2023. But the midfielder only started 21 of his 38 matches under the German. Slot has already trusted Gravenberch to start his 14 outings this season.

Slot has also fielded Gravenberch in a deeper position than Klopp favoured, which Pennant believes was key to unlocking his full potential. Rather than drop the Dutchman into a deep role, Klopp started Wataru Endo as their midfield anchor in 34 of his 43 fixtures last season.

Pennant told talkSPORT: “The transformation of Gravenberch, putting him as the No6, Klopp missed a trick there because we were playing Endo, no disrespect to Endo, as a stop-gap. He can’t do what Gravenberch does on the turn and driving through the midfield.”

Liverpool are first in line to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid

Liverpool would be one of the first sides the agent of Aurelien Tchouameni would call if Real Madrid decide to sell the midfielder. That is according to Graeme Bailey, who has exclusively told Rousing The Kop that the Frenchman’s camp ‘liked Liverpool’ when they spoke in 2022.

Claims of Liverpool already making contact with Real Madrid about Tchouameni’s transfer is ‘jumping the gun’. But the Reds are unlikely to snub a chance to discuss his availability if Los Blancos decide to cut their losses amid a frustrating start to his career in the Spanish capital.

Liverpool liked Tchouameni ‘a lot’ whilst at AS Monaco but missed out on his transfer to Real Madrid in 2022. So, should he be available again, their interest may get revived with the 24-year-old still a player with a lot of potential and having started 14 of his 15 games this term.
