Jones was exceptional for Liverpool against Leverkusen with the 23-year-old showing why he can be such a key player for Slot for many years to come after breaking into the Reds’ first-team under Jurgen Klopp.

And Hendrie was impressed with what he saw from Joens, with the pundit saying: “This is brilliant, I mean absolutely brilliant. It’s Luis Diaz who gets the goal, but the pass is absolutely excellent.

“It starts from Trent on the right side and then inside to Curtis Jones it is, and it’s through the eye of a needle, defence splitting. Hradecky comes right out and he just gives it the old scoop over the goalkeeper with a bit of ice cream scoop straight over the keeper, see you later.”

Jones is growing into his own at Liverpool this season

With Arne Slot praising Jones after Liverpool’s win against Brighton & Hove Albion on the weekend, the midfielder is really starting to show this season why he is someone who could have a long and successful future at Anfield.

The Liverpool academy graduate continues to push through barriers with the Reds, with Jones quickly becoming an integral part of Slot’s first-team plans after a slow start to the new campaign under the Dutch manager.
