Alexander-Arnold praises Slot for being ‘strict’ with him

Speaking to Viaplay, the England international revealed that he appreciated Slot’s ‘strict’ approach to coaching in training, with Alexander-Arnold also noting how much time the Dutch coach spends on him to improve.

With Martin Keown saying Alexander-Arnold has improved greatly for Liverpool this season, the 26-year-old right-back has been one of the biggest winners from Slot’s appointment, with the defender playing some of the best football of his career this campaign.

Alexander-Arnold said when asked what he enjoys about working with Slot at Liverpool this season: “He is strict with me, I like that. He helps me with the weak points in my game and he wants me to improve.

“He tells me where to stand to get the ball. You don’t get the ball there because someone will mark you, so why would you stand there? And if you are marked and other people come in and Ryan Gravenberch is marked, there is space behind him and you look for depth.”

Alexander-Arnold’s growth under Slot at Liverpool is clear to see

Alexander-Arnold is one of the leading voices in the Liverpool dressing room, with the defender a figure of authority and a player who commands respect despite being relatively young compared to his teammates.
