Arne Slot was appointed as Jurgen Klopp’s successor this summer, and it’s safe to say the new Liverpool manager is doing quite the job.
The Reds sit top of the Premier League after ten games with the Anfield side also looking like strong favourites to finish in the top-eight of the revamped UEFA Champions League, with Slot evolving Liverpool to something new post-Klopp.

With Slot noting that Liverpool’s atmosphere against Brighton & Hove Albion was the loudest he’s ever heard at Anfield, fans are now starting to get on board with the Dutch manager and his style of play after three months.
And Slot has now shared that one Liverpool player came very highly-rated by officials shortly after the former Feyenoord boss moved to Anfield.

Joe Gomez recommended to Slot as ‘top’ Liverpool player
Speaking to the press, Slot shared how Joe Gomez was recommended to him highly after joining Liverpool, with the defender impressing against Brighton on the weekend after replacing Ibrahima Konate at half-time.
Slot said about Gomez: “That says a lot about his mentality, and it also says a lot about his quality. If you don’t play that much and you come on in a game where your teammates were outplayed for 45 minutes, that you can come in and play like this.
“It also says a lot about his mentality in recent weeks and months, where he didn’t play that much but he is now able without, playing a lot, to play 90 minutes on Wednesday and to bring in a performance like this on Saturday. But this is what people told me when I came in.
“Joe is a top, top, top professional who always, no matter what position he is in, gives his best for the team and for himself in the end as well. He got the reward for it today because I think the fans loved what they saw – I definitely did.”

What else was said about Gomez after Liverpool’s win vs Brighton?
Gomez hasn’t featured much for Liverpool this season after making over 50 appearances in all competitions last year for the Reds, but it’s safe to say that the defender caught the eye on the weekend against the Seagulls.
Ray Houghton praised Gomez as ‘special’ for Liverpool against Brighton, with Slot’s aforementioned praised also highlighting just how good the former Charlton Athletic player was for the Reds at Anfield.
Having hardly featured for Liverpool this season, this weekend’s performance could indicate a potential change in Gomez’s playing time, where more minutes might be on the table for the England international.
