Liverpool players reconvened for training on Friday ahead of facing Brighton this weekend.

The Reds are back from a trip to the South Coast on Wednesday, having seen off the Seagulls in the Carabao Cup.

And as they welcome Fabian Hurzeler and his team to Anfield on Saturday, they’ll be hoping to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

As Brighton showed with a battling display at the Amex, it won’t be an easy game for Liverpool.

Ahead of the match, the Reds have been putting in work at the AXA Training Centre to be as prepared as possible.

And as footage emerged of Liverpool getting ready to be put through their paces, Caoimhin Kelleher was seen being teased by his teammates for sporting a fresh haircut.

Caoimhin Kelleher shows off fresh trim

It must have felt a little strange for Kelleher to be on bench duty during the Carabao Cup game.

The 25-year-old has been Liverpool’s go-to guy in the competition over the past few years, with Kelleher keeping goal for two trophy wins since 2022.

In his absence Vitezslav Jaros put in a fine performance to suggest that he can be trusted if ever the Reds need to count on him again.

With Alisson Becker still injured, though, Kelleher will return for Saturday’s match.

And as seen in footage released on Liverpool’s official X account, the Irishman will do so with a fresh trim.

As Kelleher walks into Liverpool’s training ground, he is greeted by an impressed Virgil van Dijk. “Woohoohoo!” yells the Liverpool captain. “Look how fresh he looks!”

“Look at the trim,” agreed Curtis Jones, tugging playfully on the goalkeeper’s sweatshirt as Alexis Mac Allister grins on in the background.

When will Alisson be back?

It is only a small thing, but this little clip highlights that Kelleher is now seen as a real key player in the Liverpool squad.

Whereas before the Irishman felt a little on the periphery of things, he is now a fully-fledged Liverpool player.

That is really pleasing to see. Kelleher has been a terrific goalkeeper for the Reds and long may that continue.

But although Liverpool know they are in safe hands for now, they would still love to see the return of their No.1. It feels like an age since Alisson went off injured against Crystal Palace.

Alisson was initially expected to miss seven games for Liverpool and we are now past the halfway point of that. There are still three games the Brazilian is expected to be unavailable for before a reassessment is made after the November international break.
