Vitezslav Jaros made his full debut for Liverpool against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup as he helped his team to a 3-2 win away from home.
Starting between the sticks in a much-changed team, Jaros was in the thick of the action in what turned out to be an eventful second half at the Amex Stadium as the Reds set up a quarterfinal clash against Southampton.
Liverpool fans praised Jaros for his performance on his first start for the club as he earned a rare outing in place of Caoimhin Kelleher.
And now, Arne Slot has delivered his verdict on the Czech goalkeeper’s display against a tricky Brighton side.
Arne Slot really impressed by Vitezslav Jaros’ full Liverpool debut

Jaros made a fantastic save against Tariq Lamptey in the first half and was called into action again after this interval, this time to deny Simon Adingra late in the game.
He conceded two goals to the aforementioned players, but he couldn’t have done much to prevent them and largely held his own on his full Liverpool debut.
Slot praised Jaros’ saves and also touched upon how comfortable the young goalkeeper was with the ball at his feet.
“Everybody could see how important his saves were,” said Slot at a press conference after the game.
“I think the first big chance of the game was for them where he saved the one versus one. Then in the second half of course we all remember one or two saves he made as well.
“But you also add to that how comfortable he was with the ball at his feet. Making the right choices; when to go short, when to clip the ball long towards the striker.
“And it helped as well the quality Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez brought in the build-up. So, I liked that triangle today a lot in ball possession.”
Jaros’ stats vs Brighton
Lee Hendrie also praised Jaros’ performance against Brighton as the youngster enjoyed arguably one of the best nights of his senior career.
His underlying numbers from the game are as follows:
- 5 saves (4 from inside the box)
- 1 long ball completed
- 2 clearances
- 47 touches
- 63% pass completion rate (24/39 passes completed)
Jaros impressed on his first start for the club and it remains to be seen if he keeps his place in the Carabao Cup starting XI as the Reds travel to St Mary’s to take on Southampton in the quarterfinal in mid-December.
