Liverpool will be crossing their fingers that everyone returns fit and healthy from the ongoing international break.

The Reds have had plenty of issues in the past with players picking up problems while representing their countries.

With a crucial run of fixtures coming up across the Premier League and Champions League, Arne Slot will be anxious about losing any member of the Liverpool squad.

Ahead of that daunting looking schedule, though, Liverpool already knew they were likely to be without Alisson Becker between the sticks.

The Reds goalkeeper went off injured during Saturday’s win over Crystal Palace after suffering a recurrence of a persistent hamstring problem.

And after further tests were carried out upon returning to the AXA Training Centre, it has now been revealed how long Alisson will miss.

Alisson set to miss crucial Liverpool run

While Vitezslav Jaros stepped in to make his Liverpool debut on Saturday, the Reds at least know that they can count on Caoimhin Kelleher to deputise for Alisson while he is away.

However, given the run of games Liverpool have after the international break, they would obviously have much preferred to count on Alisson.

Nevertheless, as per The Times, they will not be able to do so.

They report that the 32-year-old is set to miss a minimum of seven games before his return to fitness.

That will definitely rule Alisson out of the upcoming matches against Chelsea, RB Leipzig, Arsenal, Brighton twice, Bayer Leverkusen and Aston Villa.

There is then said to be the possibility that the Brazilian could miss more longer, with Southampton, Real Madrid and Manchester City next on the calendar for Liverpool.

As per The Daily Mail, there is no set date being targeted for Alisson’s return, however they suggest that the clash with Southampton on November the 24th is potentially being pencilled in.

Caoimhin Kelleher decision completely vindicated

While it is clearly a huge blow for Liverpool to lose Alisson over the upcoming games, there will be no panic from supporters.

Kelleher showed last season that he is more than capable of stepping in to cover for Alisson over an extended period of time.

If the Irishman can hit those levels again, then Liverpool will be absolutely fine.

For Kelleher, the playing time will be very welcome after he was frustrated in his attempts to leave the club over the summer.

The 25-year-old now has the chance to further enhance his reputation as a starting Premier League goalkeeper and for Liverpool, their decision to stand firm and keep Kelleher has been firmly vindicated once again.
