Mohamed Salah has once again been Liverpool’s main man this season and has played a pivotal role in Arne Slot’s early days at the club.

The Reds were expected to undergo a bit of a transition after Jurgen Klopp’s departure, but instead, they have raced off the blocks and notched up 11 wins out of 13 under their new manager.

Slot has made a positive impact on and off the pitch at Anfield thus far, but if reports are to be believed, his relationship with Salah got off on the wrong note.

Slot’s methods are different from that of Klopp in the sense that Liverpool are a lot more patient in midfield this season, but in terms of intensity off the ball, he is just as demanding as his predecessor.

The players have taken to his methods well, but according to journalist Marcel van der Kraan of De Telegraaf, Salah clashed with Slot in pre-season as the new manager demanded too much work from the attacker off the ball.

According to an excerpt from the kick-off podcast, as quoted by Voetbal Zone, Salah reportedly said, ‘You’re _____ crazy’ to Slot, with the journalist adding that he had heard about this incident from ‘guys who were at the training camp.’

Further details about the incident haven’t been divulged, but results on the pitch seem to suggest the pair are getting on just fine at Liverpool.

Salah’s stats under Slot

The Egyptian has featured in every Premier League and UEFA Champions League game this season under the new manager and has already notched up eight goals in all competitions.

With his contract set to expire next summer, Salah admitted that he’s fully focused on the present as Liverpool work diligently behind the scenes to resolve the situation.

Al-Hilal want to sign Salah and are even willing to offer Liverpool a sizable fee if he puts pen to paper on an extension, so it remains to be seen how the situation develops in the coming months.

Signed for £34.3m in the summer of 2017, the 32-year-old has already achieved legendary status at Anfield.

Liverpool have been wary of offering big contracts to players on the wrong side of 30 under Michael Edwards, but considering Salah’s form and stature, they should look to make an exception for him.
