Arne Slot gives injury update on Federico Chiesa, Diogo Jota and Conor Bradley ahead of Liverpool vs Arsenal

Liverpool head to Arsenal this weekend with the chance to put three huge Premier League points on the board.

The Reds have made a stunning start to the season, winning 11 out of 12 games so far.

That has shot Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table, but only a win against Arsenal is likely to be enough to keep them there.

The fact that Arsenal have some injury and availability issues heading into the game has given added belief that the Reds can get a first win at the Emirates since 2022.

But it’s also true that the Liverpool squad is slightly depleted itself. Arne Slot is missing one or two players he’d rather have available.

Federico Chiesa, Diogo Jota and Conor Bradley are three who fit that description. And speaking in his pre-match press conference Slot gave an update on whether any of them will be involved on Sunday.

Arne Slot gives injury update

Although Liverpool will be able to cope without each of this injured trio, it would be nice to have them all available.

Ahead of Slot speaking to the press, though, it had been expected that none would be ready to face Arsenal.

Bradley looked set to miss a few weeks and although there has been optimism over Chiesa, it did not seem as though the Italian would be fit in time either.

However, when asked for the team news ahead of the trip to Arsenal, Slot provided a relatively positive update on Chiesa in particular.

While the 27-year-old is seemingly not in line to feature, the Liverpool head coach said he could return to training on Friday.

“I think they feel good but not when it comes to playing for us during the weekend,” Slot remarked. “Fede might train with us today or tomorrow.

“Diogo definitely not and Conor Bradley, let’s see if he can be with us tomorrow.”

Good news on the injury front for Liverpool

It does not sound much like any of this trio will even be in the matchday squad to play Arsenal.

Despite that, though, this very much sounded like a positive update from Slot.

For Chiesa especially, the fact that he is set to come back to training over the next couple of days is really good news.

Liverpool will have to be careful with him to a degree, but hopefully the No.14 can now put these injury niggles behind him and kick on properly.

Bradley also sounds like he is on the verge of returning and although a definitive no on Jota is concerning, hopefully he isn’t far away either.
