Liverpool enjoyed another good night in the Champions League on Wednesday, beating RB Leipzig 1-0.
The win meant that the Reds have won three out of three in Europe under Arne Slot and look fairly nailed on for qualification to the last-16.
It was not an easy game against Leipzig, however, with Liverpool needing the brilliance of Caoimhin Kelleher to win them the points.
But the Reds got themselves over the line in what was an emotional occasion for former Leipzig centre-back Ibrahima Konate.
Konate was not the only Liverpool player making a return to their old club, either. Dominik Szoboszlai was back at the Red Bull Arena for the first time since leaving for Liverpool in 2023.
Szoboszlai was not able to mark his comeback with a goal contribution, but as it turns out, Leipzig did attempt to honour the Hungarian in a different way.

Liverpool turn down Dominik Szoboszlai request
Szoboszlai is about as Red Bull a player as it’s possible to be.
Up until he joined Liverpool, the 23-year-old’s whole professional career was spent at clubs under the energy drink company’s umbrella.
Now firmly out from under that, Szoboszlai has had a mixed time of things at Liverpool. Nevertheless, the No.8 clearly has the talent to be a big player for the Reds.
Over two years at Leipzig, Szoboszlai certainly became that. The Hungary captain won back-to-back DFB Pokal’s with the Bundesliga side, scoring in the 2023 final.

As a result, BILD claim that upon his return on Wednesday, Leipzig had planned a ‘belated farewell’ for Szoboszlai before kick-off.
However, Liverpool are said to have ‘vetoed’ the request to honour their midfielder, reportedly worried that it could serve to distract him ahead of the game.
No further details of what was planned for Szoboszlai are given.
Ibrahima Konate receives RB Leipzig snub
Szoboszlai was clearly excited about coming back to the club he spent two good years at.
RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose also seemed to keen to see his former player. Rose hailed Szoboszlai’s Liverpool form before the match.
And having helped the Reds to the win, it seemed as though Szoboszlai did get his moment after the match. “Nice seeing you home again,” RB Leipzig posted on Instagram alongside a picture of the midfielder receiving a statue of a red bull. “Wishing you all the best for the future.”
While Szoboszlai replied with a heart emoji, Konate was seemingly not happy with the special treatment his Liverpool teammate received.
The big defender posted three dots to highlight the fact that there was no such tribute to himself, another former Leipzig luminary. Knowing Ibou he was surely joking, but you never know!
