With things going well on the pitch for Liverpool, worries over player’s futures can take a bit of a backseat.
The Reds have defied expectations by winning 11 of their opening 12 matches in all competitions under Arne Slot.
The Dutchman has led Liverpool to the best start to a season in the club’s history and as a result, everything is rosy at Anfield.
Nevertheless, there remains the spectre of departures for Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Salah at the end of the season.
In the meantime, there are also a number of players within the Liverpool squad who are hardly being used by Slot. They can’t be too happy just at the moment.
Up until recently, one of those had been Curtis Jones. And in a candid moment this week, Jones has admitted that he has had previous thoughts of leaving Liverpool for more game time.

Curtis Jones opens up on Liverpool future
It is still easy to think of Jones as a young boy fresh out of the Liverpool academy. However, the truth is a little different.
The Scouser will turn 24 in just a matter of months and is closing in on 150 Liverpool appearances.
Nevertheless, it still remains a fact that Jones has not nailed down a long-term starting spot in the Reds XI at any point in his career to date.
After an excellent display against Chelsea last weekend, the midfielder will now be hoping that that can finally start to change.

Speaking to LFCTV this week, however, Jones admitted that there have been times in the past that he has thought he may have to leave his boyhood club.
After being asked about becoming a father for the first time, the No.17 said that he had wanted to get settled on the pitch before taking the next step off it.
“I was at a point where I didn’t know if I was going to have to go on-loan or leave the club and things like that,” says Jones.
“There’ve been plenty of times where I’ve been reassured and I know where my future is and now I’m at the point of where I’m ready to take the next step and become a dad.”
Can Curtis Jones hammer down starting spot?
Jones may have taken a massive step off the field recently, but the next one in terms of his football career still feels slightly out of reach.
Although Jones was brilliant against Chelsea last week, he still remains very much the fourth choice in Slot’s three-man midfield.
Alexis Mac Allister is possibly the key man, with Ryan Gravenberch’s quality now speaking for itself, too.
Dominik Szoboszlai’s more advanced role is perhaps under the mist scrutiny, but Slot clearly sees Jones more as one of the two sitting midfielders.
That isn’t to say that Jones stands now chance, though, and it’s good to hear that he’s settled in at Liverpool for the long-term. But if he can’t break into the XI over the next year or two, those old doubts may start to resurface again.
