Liverpool have one of the most talented squads in world football currently with the right blend of youth and experience.

While the likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker are experienced campaigners well into their 30s, the rest of the squad is fairly young which is a good sign for the future.

Salah, in particular, is one of the fittest players in the world and goes to great lengths to take care of his body.

The Egyptian is lightning-quick but isn’t the fastest player at Liverpool. And the answer, as was the case with Fulham’s Adama Traore, might come as a bit of a surprise.

Adama Traore is a physical specimen but is no slouch when it comes to speed, with the Fulham attacker one of the most unstoppable players in world football when in full swing.

According to the Premier League’s data from the 2023-24 season, the Spaniard clocked a top speed of 35.55 kph, with Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven the fastest player in the league currently after he clocked 37.38 kph.

In a video posted by Optus Sport, Traore was asked to guess the fastest player at Liverpool, to which he responded Salah.

However, he was taken aback when he got told that it was actually Trent Alexander-Arnold, as he simply quipped, “I was thinking maybe Salah or Darwin Nunez.”

Earlier this season, Salah named Nunez as the fastest Liverpool player from the current squad, so Traore’s guess was most definitely a good one.

How fast is Alexander-Arnold?

According to Opta data via The Independent, Alexander-Arnold is the fastest player at Anfield with a top speed of 34.7 kph from last season.

However, the Liverpool vice-captain is dwarfed in comparison to some of his other peers and is not among the top five quickest players in the Premier League currently.

As seen in the above table, Van de Ven unsurprisingly leads the way in this regard as is up there with the quickest players in world football currently.
