Trent Alexander-Arnold is well regarded as one of Liverpool’s best players in the Premier League era, yet the defender could be on the move in 2025.
Real Madrid have been strongly linked with a move for Alexander-Arnold this year, with the Liverpool right-back’s contract set to expire at the end of this season, opening the door for the England international to leave Anfield for nothing.
With Madrid the masters of signing world-class players for free based on their recent deals for the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba, there’s a real chance that Alexander-Arnold could run down his Liverpool contract in order to join Los Blancos.
And Liverpool now have a new stance on how confident they are in Alexander-Arnold signing a new deal.

Liverpool worried Alexander-Arnold will run down his contract
According to Marca, Liverpool are growing worried that Alexander-Arnold will now allow his contract to expire to open the door to a move to Madrid, who are now growing in confidence in signing the 25-year-old.
As per the report, Madrid could even launch a January move for Alexander-Arnold with Dani Carvajal out for the season, though the chances of Liverpool allowing a star player to leave mid-season remain extremely low.

Indeed, Alexander-Arnold clearly has some interest in joining Madrid, even if it does mean leaving his boyhood club in Liverpool during a period in the club’s history under Arne Slot where things could be quite fruitful post-Jurgen Klopp.
Yet no club in football is bigger than Madrid, and with Alexander-Arnold’s chances of signing a new Liverpool contract as low as they currently are, the Reds need to be doing all they can to tie the defender down to fresh terms.

Liverpool can’t allow Alexander-Arnold to leave for Real Madrid
Alexander-Arnold has been arguably the best fullback in the world this season, with Slot getting the best out of the 25-year-old right-back, who has also impressed immensely for England in the two international breaks this campaign.
And with Madrid’s interest in Alexander-Arnold intensifying, Liverpool have to be throwing everything they can at the defender to ensure he remains at Anfield for what will be the best years in his career.
Although Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are in similar boars, Liverpool simply can’t allow their star defender in Alexander-Arnold to leave for nothing, with the right-back too important to the club to leave for free.
