David Beckham is regarded as one of the greatest passers in the English game, a title that Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold could now be coming for.

The 25-year-old right-back has redefined what a fullback can do in the past few years with Alexander-Arnold emerging as one of the best passers in world football and a weapon for Liverpool and England that few can stop.

With a potential future in central midfielder, Alexander-Arnold is on a path to legendary status in football given how world-class the defender is on the ball and his ability to find teammates with passes that few would even consider pulling off.

And the England legend Beckham has now shared what he thinks whenever he watches Alexander-Arnold play for Liverpool.

Beckham sees similarities in how he played with Alexander-Arnold

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United winger revealed how he sees bits of him whenever he watches Alexander-Arnold, with Beckham a huge fan of the Liverpool defender.

Indeed, Alexander-Arnold and Beckham’s passing are eerily similar when compared in a vacuum, and the former LA Galaxy superstar also seems to realise how good the England international is when given space to do what he wants with the ball.

Beckham said: “I suppose if there was one player where I look at and I think, he’s very similar in the way he delivers the ball, he’s very similar in the way he crosses the ball or passes, it has to be Trent.

“When I look at a player and I think: ‘I see myself in the way he puts the ball in, in what he sees in the long balls that he plays.’ You know, he plays balls that some players don’t even think about. And that’s what I love about him as a player.”

Liverpool can’t allow a talent as good as Alexander-Arnold to leave

With Real Madrid’s interest in Alexander-Arnold intensifying, the chances of the 25-year-old defender leaving Liverpool are growing stronger by the week, with the fullback’s contract expiring at the end of this season.

And with a legend as big as Beckham now sharing how much he enjoys watching Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool simply can’t let a talent as good as the academy graduate leave next summer for nothing.

Alexander-Arnold is yet to hit his full potential and is a rare player for Liverpool who means more off the pitch than on it, and the Reds must do all they can to ensure the defender remains at Anfield beyond this season.
