Liverpool manager Arne Slot may continue to have mixed feelings about the current international break.

On the one hand, many of his Liverpool stars are shining brightly for their nations, undoubtedly picking up confidence with their top displays.

But on the other hand, with each minute that passes on the pitch, Slot will be fearing injury and fatigue ahead of their return to Anfield.

He will need each and every one of his group fit and firing after the international break, with a very tricky period coming up.

The top-class displays from many Merseyside men have been evident for all to see, with Trent Alexander-Arnold impressing for England.

Dominik Szoboszlai undroppable at Liverpool after Hungary masterclass

Liverpool loanee Ben Doak has shone for Scotland, with Hungary captain Dominik Szoboszlai now adding his name to that list.

The midfielder guided his nation to a 2-0 Nations League win over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday, with the skipper netting both goals of the match.

But as per Football on TNT Sports, his display wasn’t limited to the scoresheet, with the midfielder creating two chances, winning seven duels, posting four successful dribbles, recovering seven balls, making six passes into the final third and winning 100% of his tackles.

Arne Slot cannot overlook Dominik Szoboszlai this season

It was a truly remarkable performance from Szoboszlai, who proved his worth as Hungary captain on the night.

Szoboszlai joined Liverpool for £60million in July 2023, and although he struggled for consistency under Jurgen Klopp, he is now one of the first names on the teamsheet for Slot.

His importance to the Reds has now been emphasised by his latest display, with the Hungarian and Ryan Gravenberch the clear first choices in the heart of their club’s midfield.

Alexis Mac Allister meanwhile is the ideal option alongside them, with that trio enjoying an immense start to the new season.

Slot did bring in Curtis Jones for Szoboszlai against Crystal Palace before the international break, but that is only an option the boss should take if the Hungarian is in desperate need of a rest.

Liverpool meet Chelsea, Arsenal and RB Leipzig next, and the Hungary captain should be a starter for all three of those matches.
