The international break is here for Liverpool, yet this pause from club football has already brought bad news in the form of Alisson Becker.
Alisson is set to miss six weeks of action for Liverpool after suffering an injury against Crystal Palace, with Caoimhin Kelleher set to replace the Brazilian international between the sticks in the upcoming fixtures for the Reds.
With some huge ties coming up for Liverpool in both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League, losing Alisson at this stage of the season could have huge effects on how Arne Slot’s side manage in their most important competitions.
And Tony Cascarino has shared how he thinks Kelleher will fair as Alisson’s replacement.

Kelleher tipped to succeed at Liverpool as Alisson’s replacement
Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit backed the Republic of Ireland international to do well in Alisson’s place, with Kelleher regarded by many as one of the best backup goalkeepers in the Premier League.
Cascarino said when asked if Kelleher has what it takes to replace Alisson between the sticks for Liverpool: “It’s an opportunity that he deserved to be a number one. What is he now? Mid-20s now. I think he is 25, Kelleher.

“He is in his prime to be a goalkeeper. I don’t have any problem in him wanting to be a first-team keeper, it’s whether he can get it at Liverpool. That is a question that only the manager can answer. But he can do himself no harm if he is playing regularly and performs like we know he can.
“I have seen enough of him with Ireland and with Liverpool that he is a very capable goalkeeper. So keep fingers crossed on that one.”

Kelleher knows he can save his Liverpool career with upcoming stint
Kelleher has always known he is good enough to start for a top Premier League side, with the Cork-born goalkeeper one of the best in the English top-flight despite being backup for Alisson at Liverpool.
And with Kelleher potentially looking at leaving Liverpool in January, the Irish international could save his career at Anfield if he performs in the coming weeks between the sticks with Alisson out injured for the Reds.
Indeed, Kelleher is aware just how big an opportunity he has coming up when club football returns next week, and the Liverpool man could change his career around for the better if he performs for the Reds.
