Whether Bayern Munich really want to sign Liverpool’s Alisson Becker as transfer rumours emerge

Alisson Becker has been one of Liverpool’s most important signings of the Premier League era and is undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in world football.

The Brazilian’s injury woes aside, he doesn’t have any glaring weaknesses in his game and played a pivotal role for the Reds’ all-conquering team under Jurgen Klopp.

Alisson is currently injured after the hamstring injury that led him to miss two games at the start of the season relapsed against Crystal Palace.

The Brazilian is set to spend the next month or so on the sidelines, but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from linking him with a transfer to Bayern Munich.

And now, a reliable journalist from Germany has provided an update on the situation.

According to Florian Plettenberg, rumours linking Alisson with a move to Bayern Munich are believed to be ‘wide of the mark’ as the Bavarian giants want to give Manuel Neuer a new contract.

The German goalkeeper’s current deal runs out in the summer of 2025, but Bayern want to keep him for another year, after which they plan to introduce Alexander Nubel as his successor.

Alisson was also linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer, but a move never materialised as he decided to stay put at Liverpool.

What does the future hold for Alisson Becker?

Liverpool agreed a deal in principle to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, with the Georgian goalkeeper set to arrive at the club in the summer of 2025.

Mamardashvili is one of the best young goalkeepers in world football and Liverpool have done well to snap him up, but it remains to be seen how his arrival impacts Alisson’s future.

The Brazilian’s contract expires in the summer of 2026 and going by his current form, he is likely to remain Liverpool’s first choice even after Mamardashvili’s arrival.
