Liverpool recorded a business-like win over Bologna on Wednesday to make it five wins in a row.
The Reds have been in perfect form ever since a surprise loss against Nottingham Forest in September.
And having won their opening game of this season’s UEFA Champions League campaign, Liverpool duly made it two wins from two against Bologna.
It was not always straightforward for Liverpool, who were rattled at times by the Italian side at Anfield.
But after taking an early lead through Alexis Mac Allister, the Reds never relinquished it.
Mohamed Salah made that goal with sumptuous assist. But if Salah took the plaudits for the first of the evening, then Trent Alexander-Arnold was the man to thank for the second.

Steve McManaman hails ‘unselfish’ Trent Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool made slightly harder work of Bologna than they perhaps should have done on Wednesday.
In truth, the Serie A team were unfortunate not to score. Having rattled the post and tested Alisson Becker, though, it just wasn’t their night.
Liverpool’s quality told and after Salah’s wonderful ball for Mac Allister, the Egyptian put the game to bed in the second-half with a trademark curling left-footed strike.
But although the finish was excellent, former Liverpool player Steve McManaman claimed that Alexander-Arnold should take the credit for making an ‘unselfish’ run that opened things up for his teammate.

“It’s a brilliant goal. But that goal doesn’t happen unless Trent Alexander-Arnold makes the run. He should get the assist,” McManaman said on commentary for TNT Sports.
“It’s brilliant, unselfish play from the right-back because Salah’s got Bologna bodies in-front of him but as soon as Trent does that he can cut inside, he can open up and there’s only one result when that happens.
Liverpool link-up proves too good to defend
Liverpool were rocked at times against Bologna, but they stood firm to keep a clean sheet and get the win.
In the end, the difference makers were two players who have been there and done it for years at the top of the game for the Reds.
Alexander-Arnold and Salah have been linking up to devastating effect down the Liverpool right for more than seven years now.
In a game where Bologna worked their socks off and at times went toe-to-toe with the Reds at Anfield, that quality just told in the end.
Alexander-Arnold is forever rightly praised so much for what he can do on the ball, but on this occasion, it was what he did off it that made the difference for Salah. And, well, Mo did the rest.
