Liverpool have been looking good during the nascent season up to this point.
There had been real intrigue over how the Reds would fare after losing Jurgen Klopp as manager this summer.
But, so far, the early signs are that Arne Slot is set to continue the brilliant work done by Klopp across his nine years at Anfield.
Comparisons were often made between Klopp and Bill Shankly – the most important manager in Liverpool’s history – but it was the man who followed Shankly, Bob Paisley, who ended up winning far more silverware.
Nobody is suggesting that Slot will reach anything like the level that Paisley did with his Liverpool squad. Nevertheless, winning more trophies should be the order of the day.
One man who has always appeared hungry for success at Liverpool is Dominik Szoboszlai. However, the Reds midfielder has now suggested that he may be keeping his mouth shut about the prospect of winning trophies at Anfield.
Dominik Szoboszlai admits to Liverpool mistake
Szoboszlai had a decidedly mixed first season with Liverpool after arriving for £60m from RB Leipzig.
The Hungarian immediately looked like he could single-handedly be the answer to the Reds midfield problems at the time, but ran into trouble during the winter.
From there, Szoboszlai cold never really rediscover his form of the autumn.
This season, though, the 23-year-old has looked back to something like his best. Slot has changed Szoboszlai’s position just a bit and he seems to be thriving because of it.
As a result, you might expect to be hear some bullish claims about the potential for trophies coming from Szoboszlai.

But, asked by liverpoolfc.com if he feels less pressure to deliver silverware given that it’s Slot’s first season in charge, Liverpool’s No.8 admitted that he has decided to keep more quiet and take things game by game.
“Well, I don’t know. Last year I spoke too much about titles and everything and of course we won one [trophy] and we had the chance to be up there until almost the very end. But we go game by game,” says Szoboszlai.
“There could be 65 more games in this season, so it’s going to be a really intense season for everybody, each of us, and we want to be there in all competitions – Champions League, Carabao Cup, Premier League [and FA Cup]. But that’s going to take time.”
Can Liverpool lift a trophy this season?
Supporters will be split on whether they like to hear the Liverpool players come out and talk openly about what they could win during a season.
Szoboszlai seemed to think that the Reds might win everything last term and although that looked possible at one stage, it was never going to happen.
To talk so openly in the media can only put pressure on yourselves and could even help to energise rivals.
Other fans will like the confidence and will assert that Liverpool should indeed be going for every trophy, so to have players feeling the same way is only right.
Trophies are not won in interviews, though, they’re won on the pitch. And if they keep calm and do their work, Liverpool have a real chance at winning a big one this season.
