Liverpool are in action on Wednesday as they take on West Ham United in the Carabao Cup.

As current holders of the competition, the Reds will be expected to go deep once again and can get off to the perfect start against an out of form Hammers side.

Having made very little changes to his starting line-ups so far during his time as Liverpool head coach, Reds boss Arne Slot is set to shuffle his pack a little for the clash.

Slot has confirmed that Caoimhin Kelleher is set to start his second game in a row for Liverpool, with Alisson Becker still out injured.

However, during Tuesday’s press conference the Dutchman was keeping his cards a little close to his chest about who else may get the nod at Anfield.

As kick-off draws closer, though, the identities of five more likely starters have now been reported, with four of those players in line for a first start of the campaign.

Federico Chiesa and four more set to start

With Slot keen for continuity in his starting XI’s so far this season, Wednesday looks set to mark a departure from that.

Since his summer arrival, the 46-year-old has outlined a very clear eleven players who he has seemingly decided are his best team right now.

The game against West Ham is the first real opportunity for Slot to rest some those players, with another game at Wolves coming hot on the heels on Saturday.

And according to The Times, the head coach is set to change half of his outfield team at the very least.

They claim that Federico Chiesa is one of those ‘poised’ to make his full Liverpool debut, although Slot has already admitted that the Italian will not play 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, despite what is set to be described as a ‘rotational’ team, Slot is said to be likely to ‘plump for a strong line-up’ regardless.

This will reportedly include Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah in defence, with Bradley ready for a first start under the head coach and Quansah set for his first minutes since the opening day of the season.

Finally, it is also claimed that Wataru Endo and Curtis Jones are ‘in line’ to start in midfield. Who will join them there is still yet to be seen.

Who will claim final midfield spot?

It will be incredibly interesting to see where Slot goes with the rest of his team against West Ham. With a big game at Wolves on Sunday, he perhaps can’t afford to go too strong.

Nevertheless, it would be a bad idea to make too many more changes than the ones reported here. So many players featuring from the beginning for the first time is likely to lead to a disjointed performance.

With that in mind, who claims the final midfield spot is maybe the most intriguing question here.

Endo and Jones are two capable players and it seems likely that the Liverpool academy graduate will be earmarked for Dominik Szoboszlai’s more advanced role.

In the meantime, it seems unlikely that either Ryan Gravenberch or Alexis Mac Allister will be risked alongside Endo, meaning the door is likely to be open to either Trey Nyoni or Tyler Morton. It’s set to be a big night for one of them.
