Liverpool send scouts to watch Sunderland wonderkid Chris Rigg

Liverpool have taken an interest in Sunderland ace Chris Rigg with Reds scouts keeping tabs on the wonderkid amid rival interest from Chelsea and Manchester City. The 17-year-old has shot onto the radar of numerous elite clubs after emerging as a key player for the Black Cats.

Rigg has so far spent his career solely at Sunderland and emerged from their academy to get his senior debut whilst still just 15 in January 2023. Starting very early has also seen the U18 England international amass 30 first-team appearances already, in which he has three goals.

Liverpool are increasingly interested in signing Bayern Munich maestro Jamal Musiala

Liverpool are increasingly interested in signing Jamal Musiala as the Germany maestro is still yet to agree to a new contract for Bayern Munich. The 21-year-old is currently only locked in until June 2026, so CaughtOffside reports the Reds are strongly on alert to a potential move.

Yet a transfer away from Bavaria is neither Musiala nor Bayern Munich’s intention right now. He would prioritise signing a fresh contract at the Allianz Arena if Der FCB submit acceptable terms. The Bundesliga giants would even slap a €180m (£152m) price tag on him over 2025.

Musiala has been in Bavaria since 2019 when he switched Chelsea’s academy to join Bayern Munich as a youth prospect. The midfielder’s progress has since seen him emerge as one of the top playmakers in Europe with 44 goals and 31 assists in 166 senior games for Der FCB.

Harvey Elliott is set for over a month on the sidelines after fracturing his foot with England’s Under-21s. But Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones ‘should be fit’ to face Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday after missing the start of the season through injury, The Athletic reports.

Jones is still to enjoy a competitive outing since Arne Slot became Liverpool’s head coach after picking up an injury in training. The 23-year-old was an unused substitute for the Reds’ opening game win at Ipswich Town, before the Reds beat Brentford and Manchester United.

But the September international break presented Jones the chance to work on his fitness at the AXA Training Centre. Now, Slot should be able to list the Scouser in the Reds’ side when Liverpool host Nottingham Forest on Saturday in one of the Premier League’s 15:00 fixtures.
