Liverpool are one of the best clubs in England when it comes to identifying talent and signing youngsters for the future.

Harvey Elliott is just one example of the Reds using their resources to full effect as Liverpool won the race for the former Fulham wonderkid, where since moving to Anfield the midfielder has become a regular on Merseyside.

With Liverpool signing future star in the making Trey Nyoni last year, the Reds are still as good as they were five years ago when it comes to signing the brightest and best English football has to offer from up and down the country.

And Liverpool could now rival Manchester City for an exciting prospect.

Liverpool scouting Sunderland wonderkid Chris Rigg

According to GiveMeSport, Liverpool are keeping tabs on Sunderland’s teenage sensation Chris Rigg, with City and Chelsea also scouting the 17-year-old English youth international.

As per the report, Rigg is considered one of the most exciting prospects in English football since Jude Bellingham, with the midfielder already a regular for Sunderland as the Black Cats top the Championship standings.

Like Bellingham, though, Rigg is willing to wait around for the right move to come about, a sign that a transfer to the likes of Liverpool could be held for some time if the Sunderland wonderkid believes he won’t be a regular at Anfield if he moves in the next 12 months.

Indeed, Rigg is an outstanding talent and is a midfielder who could one day become a regular in the Premier League if his development continues at its current pace, and Liverpool need to ensure they’re the side who wins the race for the teenager.

Rigg could be part of Liverpool’s squad for 15 years

The race to sign Rigg is expected to heat up in 2025 with the midfielder likely to play a key role for Sunderland in their bid to finally return to the Premier League next year.

And for Liverpool, they will want to be the side who end up winning the race for Rigg, who is showing already in the Championship that he could be a top Premier League performer in the next decade to come.

Whilst Liverpool’s midfield options are already quite exceptional, adding Rigg to the mix will take the standard up another few levels, with the England youth international a genuine star in the making.
