Alisson says why he thinks Liverpool are playing so well under Arne Slot this season

Arne Slot has immediately hit the ground running at Liverpool, with the manager boasting three wins from his first three matches.

Chris Sutton says Liverpool have ‘greater control’ under Slot compared to his predecessor Jurgen Klopp, who left Anfield in the summer.

Slot is not scared to be ‘brutal’ at Liverpool, with the manager having already made many big decisions during his brief time in the dugout.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been subsituted in all three matches so far, while Klopp favourite Harvey Elliott has barely been considered.

Young defender Jarell Quansah meanwhile was substituted at half-time against Ipswich Town in the very first match of the season.

Alisson says why Liverpool have started strongly under Arne Slot

Slot has guided Liverpool to 2-0 wins over Ipswich and Brentford, along with a 3-0 win against fierce rivals Manchester United.

And with three clean sheets to his name, number one Alisson has now shared why he thinks the Reds have enjoyed so much early success under Slot.

“His ideas are not too complicated,” Alisson told the Liverpool website. “He’s a really smart manager – not only about the way he thinks about football but the way he implements his ideas, it’s really clear.

“The message is really clear, so for us players it’s not too complicated and I think that’s what we are showing on the pitch. Now we get confidence from doing the things that he asks us to do.

“But he demands a lot of hard work from us and from our side we have to keep going with these kind of things.

“But the answer the players are giving on the pitch is unbelievable, the hard work is so good – we have to highlight that.

“Everybody with the same goal of winning the game, keeping the clean sheet and doing whatever is necessary to do on the pitch – to defend, to attack, to score goals, create chances. So that’s why I think we are doing so well at the beginning of the season.”

Can Arne Slot maintain the strong Liverpool run?

The big question now, of course, is whether or not Slot can continue the club’s form deep into the season.

Liverpool are likely to have players that will be suffering from fatigue after the latest international break, with Nottingham Forest travelling to Anfield on Saturday.

Just three days later, Slot takes the Reds to Italy to take on European giants AC Milan in their Champions League opener.

Bournemouth come to Anfield in league action four days after that, with Liverpool then taking on West Ham in the League Cup shortly after.

The busy schedule is only getting started, and Slot will need to manage his squad expertly in order to continue his strong start to life on Merseyside.
