Liverpool are beginning to edge towards crunch time when it comes to handing out new contracts to some of their stars.
The Reds have had a perfect start to the Premier League season, but have seen matters off the pitch somewhat overshadow their efforts.
None of this is Arne Slot’s fault, of course. The new head coach has inherited three enormous contract issues from Jurgen Klopp.
But while Slot has steered the ship exceptionally on the pitch, it’s now time for the Dutchman to show his mettle off it.
After Mohamed Salah threw down the gauntlet to Liverpool live on television last weekend, supporters are looking for some concrete movement where new contracts are concerned. And it looks like they’re about to get it.

Luis Diaz set for new Liverpool contract
Liverpool fans would obviously love to hear news that Salah has agreed a new deal with the club.
Thinking back to 2022, when the Egyptian signed his last extension at Anfield, that came almost completely out of the blue. The same again would be nice.
That also goes for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk. Imagine how well received a three-way contract extension announcement would be. Maybe that’s what the Reds are aiming for.
In the meantime, however, there has been another contract issue creeping into the discussion of late, too. And that involves Luis Diaz.

There have been claims this week that Liverpool are relaxed about Diaz’s contract situation.
But speaking exclusively to Rousing The Kop, journalist Graeme Bailey says that Liverpool will give the Colombian a new deal and that it could even be sealed before the more headline trio.
“He is going to get his new contract I believe,” says Bailey. “Liverpool have not been enamoured with the way his people have acted, really. But they recognise that he now needs that wage rise, he needs to get on better terms.
“I think he might even get done before Trent Alexander-Arnold,” adds the reporter. “I think they’re the two main ones to get done. Talks are planned with Salah, but Diaz and Trent they’re hoping might get done first.”
Will the other three sign as well?
Given his good form at the start of this season, Diaz’s extension will be good news for fans.
However, it’s undeniable that it is not the contract news supporters are really waiting for.
So, touching upon the other three deals that are desperately needing to get done, Bailey says that next month’s international break will be a key time to look out for, for all of Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold.
“I expect they’ll come around the table by the October international break and all parties will put across their thoughts,” says the journalist.
“We’ll know a lot more by then and I think Arne Slot will play a big part in this.”
