Richard Keys hopes he is wrong about Arne Slot after hearing what Liverpool players have said

Liverpool are flying high under Arne Slot, with the Dutchman winning all three of his Reds matches so far.

Slot was busy in the summer transfer window, but the Liverpool manager largely focused on exits as opposed to arrivals.

Liverpool signed only Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili, with the latter not joining until next summer.

But it certainly hasn’t affected morale around Anfield, with the Reds joint-top of the Premier League after three matches.

A potential banana-skin was avoided against Ipswich Town at Portman Road, with Slot then winning his first Anfield test against Brentford.

Both matches were won 2-0, with Liverpool then defeating fierce rivals Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Pundit Richard Keys has now shared his thoughts on Slot’s start to life on Merseyside, writing in his blog: “I thought Liverpool were good. No more. But they didn’t have to be. They swept Utd away without getting out of second gear.

“I’m hoping my reservations about Arne Slot were wrong. In fairness, he’s made a great start and what players are saying leads me to believe they’re enjoying working with him.

“Anyone would think he’d got a magic wand. Ah – Harry Potter maybe? It’s taken him no time to get the Anfield machine running smoothly, proving it can be done. They’re second after three wins and they haven’t conceded yet.”

Slot has certainly handed his new life well, which was by no means an easy task given the phenomenal job of his predecessor.

Jurgen Klopp was and still is much-loved by the Anfield faithful, with his successor having had huge boots to fill.

But Slot has thus far managed the challenge expertly, with seven goals scored and none conceded from his first three matches.

Further challenges arrive after the upcoming international break, however, with Liverpol’s squad set to be really tested.

The club will be wanting to fight on all fronts this season, and their ambitions will become clear later this month as they prepare for matches in the league, League Cup and Champions League.

Liverpool’s players have undoubtedly bought into the project, with Kostas Tsimikas saying everyone has confidence under Slot.
