Liverpool are now joint-top of the Premier League table after easing past Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Luis Diaz scored twice and Mohamed Salah added a third as Liverpool overcame their fierce rivals on their home soil.

It was another first-class performance from Arne Slot and his players, who rightfully left Manchester with beaming smiles, with Diaz messaging Alexis Mac Allister after the win.

Having beaten both Ipswich and Brentford 2-0, the Reds now boast seven goals from their first three games, with zero conceded.

It has been a real team effort so far under Slot this season, and that was the story once again at Old Trafford.

Troy Deeney picks five Liverpool players in his Team of the Week

There were, however, five Liverpool players that particularly caught the eye of pundit Troy Deeney in his BBC Sport Team of the Week.

He began with Alisson, saying: “He was the only goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet. Liverpool were all over Manchester United from start to finish.”

Defenders Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson were also included, with Deeney saying of the centre-back: “He got a clean sheet and was a monster once again. He was a colossal force at the back. He oozes quality and Liverpool need to tie him down on a new contract.”

And of the left-back he noted: “He got an assist and had a really good game in a dominant Liverpool performance.”

The goalscorers were also involved, with Deeney saying of Salah: “He got a goal and two assists. His second assist was a great pass inside. He caused Manchester United problems all day. It was a lovely finish for his goal to top off what has been a fantastic season so far.”

As for Diaz, Deeney said: “The two Liverpool wingers tormented Manchester United. Diaz got two goals and was excellent.”

And completing the heavy Liverpool focus in the Team of the Week was Slot, with Deeney noting: “He has been a monster. He handled the game really well and Liverpool dominated Manchester United from start to finish I thought.”

Arne Slot passes Manchester United test with flying colours

It really was an impressive display from Liverpool from start to finish, with the only complaint perhaps being that they could have added one or two more goals.

But Slot won’t be worrying about that issue, with the Dutchman instead certain to be really satisfied with every Reds player after the win.

The match had the potential to be really challenging, with the Red Devils often proving hard to get past in recent times despite their problems.

Jurgen Klopp certainly found it difficult to get the better of Erik ten Hag last season, especially at Old Trafford.

But the new boss had no such issues, with the Dutchman passing the major test with flying colours, much to the delight of the travelling fans.

Slot warned his players at half-time, with his group seemingly taking that on board before going on to record a fine victory.
