Arne Slot has got off to a dream start as manager of Liverpool, with the Dutch coach securing his biggest win yet against Manchester United.

The former Feyenoord boss has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water, with Slot winning his first three professional games in England with Liverpool yet to concede a single goal despite a tricky start.

With Ryan Gravenberch transformed under Slot, the Dutch coach’s changes at Liverpool are making a real impression already this season, with the Reds one of two teams in the Premier League to win their first three games.

And Slot has now revealed what he told his players at half-time at Old Trafford.

Slot warned Liverpool players Manchester United would press differently

Speaking to Sky Sports, Slot revealed how he told his Liverpool players that United were likely to change their tone on their pressing, a decision that helped the Reds counter the Manchester giants and get the better of them after the restart.

With Liverpool dominating the game from the get-go, Slot’s tactics worked a treat in getting all three points against United, and the Dutch coach deserves credit for how he went about beating the old enemy in their own backyard.

Slot said: “We said they are going to press differently, so be prepared for that. Try to find out what they are going to try to do, but also showed them three moments where in one situation led to a change for Mazraoui where Lucho was not tracking back as he should.

“And I came back to the moment where Trent, not lost the ball, but he played a sloppy pass to Alisson. Those moments can change the game here at Old Trafford, so you need to be focused and concentrate every second if you want to win here.”

Slot is already earning his stripes at Liverpool

Slot has been quite the appointment for Liverpool given the size of the job the Dutch coach was facing after replacing a club legend in Jurgen Klopp.

Yet after three games, it’s safe to assume that Liverpool made a good call in appointing Slot, with the former Feyenoord manager adjusting to Anfield life with ease and making the Reds play some good football.

A win at Old Trafford this early in his career will go a long way in becoming a new icon on Merseyside, and Slot can be proud of what he managed today for Liverpool against United.
