Liverpool may have had a quiet summer transfer window, but they still managed to do some eye-catching business for the academy.

The Reds have become well versed in picking up some of the country’s top young talent over the past few years.

With a clear pathway on show from the Liverpool academy through to the first-team squad, the club has become an attractive option for youth-team prospects.

Liverpool brought in Amara Nallo and Trey Nyoni last year, for example, and that pair are already making strides towards the first-team.

Nyoni has impressed Arne Slot in pre-season, while Nallo is set to be Liverpool’s fifth-choice centre-back for the campaign. And now, another talented youngster has confirmed that he’s following in their footsteps.

Alvin Ayman confirms Liverpool move

Nallo and Nyoni are not the only teenagers to have been picked up by Liverpool over the past couple of years.

The summer of 2022 was also a successful one in that respect, with the likes of Ben Doak and Trent Kone-Doherty signed from elsewhere.

2021 saw Bobby Clark and Kaide Gordon come in and there are plenty of other good examples besides.

With all of this credit in the bank, then, it should not have been a surprise that highly-rated Wolves midfielder Alvin Ayman chose to join Liverpool this summer, too.

There have been reports that Ayman cost Liverpool £2m and they are obviously under the impression that the 16-year-old has a big future.

With no official announcement coming from the club where academy signings are concerned, Ayman himself has taken to Instagram on Saturday to confirm that his time at Liverpool has begun.

“New beginnings,” says the midfielder, tagging in Liverpool’s official account.

“Would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Wolves for helping me develop over the past 2 years.”

What about Rio Ngumoha?

As well as Ayman, Liverpool have been reported to be signing winger Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea this summer.

However, with the transfer deadline now passed, there has been no sign of Ngumoha just yet.

Nevertheless, according to journalist Paul Gorst, this is not something to worry about.

Speaking on transfer deadline day, Gorst said that Ngumoha will still sign for Liverpool and is currently going through the Premier League’s five step programme for academy signings, which can take some time.

With Nyoni and Nallo providing the blueprint for last year, perhaps we should expect to see Ayman and Ngumoha in the first-team picture before too long.
