Simon Jordan has theory over why Arne Slot has barely made any signings at Liverpool

Liverpool fans were undoubtedly getting frustrated as the summer transfer window went on without any signings.

But new Liverpool manager Arne Slot eventually broke his transfer duck, firstly bringing Giorgi Mamardashvili and then Federico Chiesa to Anfield.

Slot hasn’t ruled out more signings, which is perhaps unsurprising given Mamardashvili will only join Liverpool next summer.

Chiesa meanwhile should be ready to hit the ground running soon, with the attacker perhaps a surprising addition from Slot.

Steven Gerrard loves Chiesa’s signature, and the Anfield faithful certainly won’t be complaining either, with a big and talented squad needed to fight on all fronts.

Simon Jordan says why Arne Slot hasn’t made many Liverpool signings

The Reds should have aims to succeed in the Premier League and Champions League this season, although Slot will just be taking things one game at a time.

Not changing too much from his predecessor Jurgen Klopp is the smart move, with Simon Jordan now sharing his thoughts on exactly why Slot has been relatively quiet in his first transfer window at the club.

“It’s very early days to see what Liverpool are going to become,” Jordan said on talkSPORT. “They haven’t gone mad in the transfer market.

“There seems to be an underlying assuredness that they’ve got what they need, because I would have assumed who was coming into Liverpool as a requested manager, he’d have some sway about transfer activity.

“And the fact that he’s bought a goalkeeper and a relatively cheap forward who on paper doesn’t look like he scored a lot of goals, but I’m assuming he must be a decent player to play for the clubs he’s played for, and will be something they build with.”

Do Liverpool have a strong enough squad to win silverware this season?

Liverpool have been particularly quiet in the transfer window when compared to their Premier League rivals, and indeed the majority of club’s across Europe’s top leagues.

Some fans will be frustrated with the lack of incomings, especially with a significant number of exits, albeit mainly youngsters.

But the more optimistic Reds will point to the fact that Klopp built a strong squad at Anfield, and left the club in a very strong position after his exit.

The early season results certainly prove that theory, with Liverpool beating both Ipswich Town and Brentford 2-0 in the Premier League.

Slot’s first real test in the eyes of many fans does, however, arrive against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Dutchman should have a very strong squad for the away trip, although Curtis Jones does have an injury problem ahead of the Man United clash.
