Liverpool fans will be unsure what to expect of Arne Slot and his recruitment team on transfer deadline day.
Slot perhaps surprised many with the signature of Federico Chiesa, and indeed that of Giorgi Mamardashvili, from Juventus and Valencia respectively.
The Liverpool attacking and goalkeeping department were not exactly light, but Slot clearly felt they needed strengthening.
Slot already had a strong squad at Anfield, but now fans will be delighted at the addition of two players, although Mamardashvili will only be available next season.
It does, therefore, open the possibility of further arrivals at Liverpool this summer, although time is rapidly running out.

Arne Slot says if Liverpool will be busy on transfer deadline day
Transfer deadline day has now arrived, with the Reds potentially among the Premier League clubs looking to make late moves in the window.
Slot has now provided eager fans with an update on the situation, with the Anfield faithful potentially in for a long deadline day.

“Again, a lot of questions in one, we’re happy with the ones we’ve signed because it is a strong team so if we find players we’re happy,” Slot said in his Manchester United press conference, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“Chiesa can help for the short term and Mamardashvili is I think an example of what this club does in the past looking at the future of the club.
“Today? I am not expecting anything but it is no different than all the days before, but if we see an opportunity we will see, but not expecting anything.”
Does Arne Slot need more new faces at Liverpool?
Chiesa’s arrival now means there is a long list of talented attackers at Anfield, with the Italian definitely needing to fight for minutes in the final third.
In the goalkeeping department, the situation remains the same, with Caoimhin Kelleher once again the number two behind Alisson, although Kelleher could leave Liverpool this summer.

Reds fans may, therefore, question why a new centre-back or central midfielder have not been signed this summer.
Liverpool tried and failed to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad as their new number six, with no back-up option pursued.
Joel Matip’s exit meanwhile leaves Slot light at the back, with the new manager not exactly convinced about Jarell Quansah.
